Re: Park Brake on for Takeoff

It is unknown how poor the acceleration was. If it was obvious, one would think there would be a quick RTO. Perhaps it was just a general suspicion but not confirmed. It can be a difficult thing to analyze. I completely agree and that's why I said I normally don't like to second guess after the fac...

Re: Park Brake on for Takeoff

Personally I'm not a real fan of parking brakes for anything but parking. They aren't called run-up brakes after all. I really don't like second guessing after accidents/incidents but can't help myself this time. The thing that gets me is that the pilots apparently admitted noticing that the ...

Re: Whats my market value

I like the way you want people to think that you have 1500 hours and yet this is the 1st time you've used the internet. One, or both, of those things is likely false. But maybe I'm just grumpy because my Mom made me stay in my basement room because I didn't get the lawn mowed. But really, I s...

Re: Do you check your killer items just prior to takeoff?

Much of this sounds a bit like having checklists to check the checklists. If there really are items you need to have an internal checklist to cover (not things you do just for your own peace of mind) then shouldn't you be reporting it to the company you work for or the people who own the ...

Re: Stateside on route freq

Maybe no common frequency is their solution to getting rid of the exasperating annoyance of ACTPLA! Seriously though, they have way more aircraft flying to way more airports and without a common enroute frequency there's not carnage in the skies. Is it possible that a congested common frequency isn'...

Idle Sunday morning curiosity, but I wonder how many pilot's lives/careers have been significantly damaged due to a bond and how many companies have been significantly impacted by shortages due to pilot's bailing very soon after starting? Not theoretically but actually. And actually damaged, not jus...

Pissed off the instructor/owner, who couldn't soak me for more on the "flight simulator" POS the flight school had at 50bucks an hour or something, because I had all the lessons worked out already... saved me money for sure. That linked article is more a "rah, rah" booster article than well researched business info, IMHO. Below is a Stats Can sourced list of air traffic. Edmonton International isn't do any better than any other airport in Canada, at least since 2010. And City Centre closed in 2013 with no significant eff...

Talked to the owner of a flight school today with 9 C172's about tailstrikes. He says that they get them on a very regular basis in terms of a scrape of some sort on the tiedown ring. That being said, he did also stated that structural damage was rare, although they change the tiedown ring regularl...

Re: COPA for Kids pilots now require police check

Reasons for the checks, are to protect the kids! Simple as that. I'll ask again - protect them from what? Has there ever been a case of child molestation at any CFK or Young Eagles volunteer flight program? You can't say your protecting anybody if the event you're concerned about has never happened...

Just wondering, does anyone have any personal knowledge of even a single instance of a volunteer pilot - or for that matter a volunteer of any kind - at this type of aviation event being a pedophile? Any documented evidence of any such occurrence?

I can guarantee you this pilot is not jealous. They could triple that U.S. pay and I would still feel sorry for those living in Trumps America
Does that mean you're enamoured to be living in Trudeau's Canada, or just that you feel the U.S. sucks even more than Canada does right now?

Not so short compared to many here but shortest for me and on the way back from Oshkosh. 06D (Rolla, ND) to S28 (Int'l Peace Garden) - 18 miles. Notable mostly because S28 is a fairly cool stop as you land on top of a hill and walk down to either US Customs or Canadian Customs depending which direct...

It is certainly "jumping at shadows" to the nth degree. The analogy to volunteering with kids in sports is not valid at all since there are way too many instances of predatory happenings in that environment. The coach/trainer/volunteer has a long-term relationship with the kids and numerous opportun...

I guess everyone makes their own call about reporting or not. It does seem that there is an expectation that if the situation warrants much soul searching then a self-imposed grounding may be in order while getting it figured out. Of course the type of flying and the risk to others - i.e. passengers...

For anyone who is really twisted about this fee, why not go to this link -https://letstalktransportation.ca/fee-modernization - and provide your comments directly to Transport? It may have no more effect than ranting on an internet forum (which is zero, BTW) but at least there's a chance.
