Re: Logging PIC time on someone else's plane

CS, I am partner in an a/c. Our policy has an Approved Pilot Schedule. That is for the day to day flying. The "Qualified Instructors" are covered for the purpose of checkouts, dual time required (under the conditions column if a pilot is low time) and training. You cannot take my plane and go for th...

Re: New Hangars for Porter

The new hangars are the start of a new MRO. Rumour has it that it will be carrying out maintenance on "charter" airline type aircraft, B737,A320,B757. Projected start up date is early March 2012. The main people involved are Wayne Millard and a few ex C3,Sky maintenance executives. Should be intere...

All I can say is that the company I work for is preparing bids for our specialty (don't ask which trade because I won't asnwer :)). There are general contractors preparing their bids for the job as well.

Re: How do I set up an aircraft partnership???

We just went through setting up the partnership last winter. We have 5 owners on the CofR. If the a/c is in your name then make a bill of sale indicating how much in % of the a/c goes to the new owner(s) for whatever amount, TC does not mind if you show $1.00. Attach the bill of sale to the applicat...

Re: Cheap Flights

I never had passes, so I had to do the leg work. Start with knowing the regular price, then browse the airline website frequently. You will know when the price is right. I've been buying like this from AC, WJ, AF and LH.

Re: COPA Insurance

WC, if you borrow the same a/c over and over, the owner can add you on the approved pilot schedule. Subject to your experience level, it may or may not be an added cost.
The insurance premium is based on the lowest experienced pilot in the group. We have 1 non-owner pilot added to the schedule.

Re: Headset

If you are in Guelph, go see Hammond Aviation at Kitchener Waterloo airport, first building on the right side of the terminal. Your other options are Aviation World in Toronto on Carlingview, or Threshold Aviation on the north side of YYZ. My advice, buy online only after you have tried the actual m...

Re: De-icing incident in St Louis

I guess will take the "bar" for "stab"... :)
The reporter should be invited on the flight deck for a visit, then we should sit back and enjoy the report.

G-pilot: I found the same page on FAA site, nothing else. Is that the US "CADORS"?
Thanks.

Re: COPA and group insurance

We recently got auto insurance with The Personal, not through COPA, but through my wife's professional affiliation, and they are very competitive. Both of us have 10 start ratings. I did not know that COPA delas with The Personal. Give them a call, it saved us $900/year on 2 car policy. Our previous...

Re: MIG-21 goes down in Romania

I glanced at the Romanian press briefly yesterday because of the headlines; in one newspaper (don't remember which one) a witness stated that he heard that the engine stopped, the nose went up briefly then the nose went straight down. Make what you wish of it. One of the pilots (the second shown in ...

Re: Have you ever rejected a takeoff?

I was doing a few touch and go's in YHM in a Cherokee during the first winter after PPL with no regard to -20C OAT. After the first t/o while on descent I did not try to conserve the engine heat, and when applying power (most likely pushed the throttle to the wall) the engine misfired couple of time...

Re: Anyone here live in Guelph, how do you like it?

I live in the South-West end of Guelph, just off the Hanlon Parkway (Hwy6). It is a nice town to live in, very quiet, and best of all, everything is close to you. Access to Hwy 401 is easy, and going to TO is generally ok, depends on the time of the day (morning and evening rush can be a pain around...
