Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

Sinister plots? You'll have to expand on that Kerry wants Saudi to artificially drive down the price of oil to weaken Russia which relies heavily on energy exports for money and political clout. So Saudi floods a saturated market with a few extra million barrels per day and the price drops. Thats t...

Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

And if as you say part of the drop is due to the glut in shale oil, where do you think that comes from? A lot comes from right here in Canada. If high production of Canadian shale gas is dropping the oil price, sounds like we have a pretty good buffer. Plus if either of the Northern Gateway or Keyst...

Could you please post links to substantiate the $60 figure? http://www.ceri.ca/images/stories/2013-06-10_CERI_Study_133_-_Oil_Sands_Update_2012-2046.pdf The Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) further refined the numbers and estimated that in 2012 the average plant gate costs (including 10% p...

Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

since the closure of cyxd development around yeg has taken off while the EIA has been landing new destinations. You see a correlation in these unrelated events? All this happened around the same time Mayor Iveson took over. Actually all this development started around the time Carl's Jr opened up. ...

Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

You don't think that every albertan is out standing beside a drill pipe covered in oil do you? No, but its a primary industry, THE primary industry. Like I said, if the oil sector were to disappear, Alberta would turn into Detroit. The Alberta economy is artificially inflated from oil. In Alberta, ...

Alberta is never going to crash oil prices only going up same with real estate Alberta is set up nicely to be another Detroit. A huge overpaid and undereducated workforce with only one primary skill relying on one major product for its sustenance. People still buy cars, but how much is real estate ...

Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

You forgot about the 38 story condo on Jasper. No I didnt. Beautiful building no doubt, but tops out at 121 meters. Nowhere near the height restriction. The new Epcor tower is also inside of the old restriction zone. That building, which by some accounts (if you count the spire as part of the build...

Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

There are 4-5 office towers currently being built that would exceed the old height restrictions with an operating CYXD. Actually theres only one, the Stantec. The big office construction boom began nearly ten years ago, and mostly making up for the major slowdown in big office construction througho...

Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

Maybe they should close Cooking Lake and Villeneuve too? They'll have a dozen A380s in and out of YEG every day in no time..... Exactly. Theres no reasonable way to draw a correlation. Why were the three KLM flights non existent up to this point? If there was a market for direct European flights fr...

Re: Former Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel

LOL. He was chosen to be health minister and he was picked to take the seat in the legislature. Its cute you think you have the power to decide the course of your future or pick your leaders through democracy, but he was appointed, the election is just a farce. Thats the first thing. The second thin...

Yup, they close CYXD to scheduled traffic and within 20 years thrice weekly flights to Frankfurt (I presume) commence. We had real visionaries in Edmonton back then. Or are you trying to say that the operation CYXD as it had been before the final closure had something to do with preventing internati...

Katz and Mandel. I cant believe it only took two Shylocks to dominate the whole city. Do you guys have any will for independence or do you like being dominated by a higher grade of people? I dont get it.
