There has to be something @ YPQ..
If not, come on down to YOO. I'd recommend Durham Flight Center (CYOO)

Re: Centennial Pilot training
Hi Jay, I don't work for DFC (where the training is done) but I can comment. Most of the Centennial grads I know have done well and are w/ regional airlines in Canada and the States. The FTU does a good job at preparing you for what you need to get a job, in a fast amount of time. The aircraft are w...

Re: Radiation monitoring badges.
If you now anyone who works at a hospital they would have them for staff working in the xray department, or those in the operating room if they do any procedures with fluroscopy ie. some surgeries, angiograms, pacemakers etc. Haven't had to wear one for a while so I can't remember if they read them...

Re: INRAT study materials
Dauntless' stuff was pretty good (for $20 it's worth it).
I highly recommend the Aerocourse work book. I'd say 25% of the questions on this exam are actually on the INRAT. I got 76% when I wrote a couple of months back.

1. Go buy a <ulhanes test book.
I went through it 6 times after I partialled my exam. You only get what you put in - I messed around and TC bit me in the ass by making me fail by a mark. Sure learned my lesson!

Re: IFR BOOK
I just passed - the App is pretty good (that PAJ mentioned) there are a couple of strangely worded questions, but mostly good.
I used the Aerocourse workbook as well (very helpful).
And finally, PilotTraining.ca for groundschool.

I think there can be some exemptions (Medevac for example). Don't quote me on it though!Brantford Beech Boy wrote:Was the turbo-jet ban lifted at the Island?

Very cool - it is nice to see a press release from SmoothAir! I have been working with Adriana and the management team on the development and hosting of their website for the last couple months and it has been a pleasure.

No, I was more so referring to some of the other comments regarding what could potentially create a pilot shortage (no one can afford to do it)

Re: Airlines Face Acute Shortage of Pilots
That one hits home. I've always wanted to fly for a career. I still do! However, after getting another promotion within 2 years of graduating university (I found a great entry level job in the mid 50's as soon as I graduated), now sitting in the low-mid 70s, I know if I make that switch i'm going to...

My girlfriend lives a couple minutes from there, and it seems like a good alternative to YHM.
Winter maintenance? Fuel? Tie downs? Parking costs? Electrical outlets for heat? etc.

Does anyone know anything about this field? The number associated with this field is 'no longer in service'.
Looking for an alternative to YHM for a C-150.

Maybe I should rephrase my message:
Don't join the cadets if you are expecting a license out of it. It's good for character building, confidence and social aspects.

Do yourself a favor, don't waste your time with the cadets. Go find a job, and bust your ass equally as hard and you will be guaranteed a license, rather than be one of the 50000 kids that gets to go.

Re: Pre Exam Prep Courses for Canadian CPL
If you can't find any place to go, I suggest picking up a couple of books from your favourite pilot shop.
I don't like the author, but found the <ulhanes to be beneficial for my studying. Prices will go down on the 2012 copy soon as they'll try and get rid of them before the new edition comes out.

Taken Monday CYTZ 13:46 as mentioned all aircraft (except Glider under tow) departed to the east (left in photo). Hmmm, http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BFF100 I see one of the Oshawa based Falcon 10's flew into the Island airport this evening, cool. http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab20/bizjet...

From the reports the gentleman sounded like he knew what he was doing. How long does it usually take for the TSB to publish their reports? The Toronto Star included this picture. http://i.thestar.com/images/e9/81/ff2997014fe0b723b126c246892d.jpg If a Cessna were to do a forced in a corn field, would...

Re: College of Pilots?
Gee, Cat, for a not-too-difficult task, flying certainly seems to be something you spend a lot of time thinking about. If it's not difficult, then why do you presume to ask for so much money teaching people how to do it? Isn't it easy? If it is, who needs a guy like you to show people how to do it?...

Rapid - I have to ask: While I was searching AvCanada with the same question I notice you seem to be the only one endorsing this program. I did the trial and it does seem alright, I just want to know if you are affiliated with them or not. When I did the trial it just seemed to be a giant Q/A base. ...

too many pilots and not enough jobs though, a friends son just came out of MFC with 190hrs and a CPL but there is just no work out there, he is currently loading boxes for fedex Indeed. IMHO they should shut down the pilot puppy mills (aviation diploma colleges) for 5 or 10 years, but as long as th...
