Re: Question

The only way I prove this is a photo from the Survivorman episode. 15 years ago he was up here doing a winter survival show. He films a high flyer saying no way you can signal those guys, and it's the B 52. The episode was recently aired on Travel and Escape channel called The Lost Pilots (Pilots re...

Re: Question

No use trying to get photo with my cheap camera. Believe me ,I know what a B 52 looks like. Sometimes he was quite low due to winds I suspect. If you ever watched Survivorman when he was doing a week winter survival at McKinley lake he says " Don't try contacting those guys, they're way too high" an...

We call it 3 O'clock Charlie.Years ago it was always a B 52. Nowadays a 767 and sometimes the B 52. Does anyon...

Re: 2013 Float Pilot Predictions

If you looked at all the float plane accidents in Canada over the past years, I'm sure you would find that a good percentage of them had experienced, high time people at the controls.

Re: A pilot's letter to a CEO

Well that guy is my new hero with all the stuff he did. Me, spent too much time having fun so all I got now is a job flying a Beaver but I kinda like it and the pay is o.k. so I don't complain. But I have done the three things needed to be called a real Bush Pilot, many times over.

Re: What is swamping?

Very hard work. Very low pay. Lots of adventure. A good swamper can make the pilots job a lot easier and he will buy you the beer. A bad swamper will make his job even more frustrating and he will want you to fall in the lake and then quit.

Re: Multi tools

Leatherman wave. Had the same one for 10 years, used it all the time. Broke the blade lock through misuse. Sent it back and got a brand new one free within 10 days.

Re: Loading an ATV (Quad Bike) into a single engine bushplan

Remove the tires and fold down the handlebars. If you haven't yet purchased the atv you may want to consider a smaller one. Less expensive, lighter weight, more fuel efficient, and usually more reliable.

Re: Downwind Takeoff and Landings in DHC-2

adhc2 is correct. For the new pilots you have to slowly learn how to do these things. There will be times when downwind takeoffs and step taxiing have to be done. A pilot should be able to do these things.Always ckeck with your boss/CP before doing these manouvers. You must have their approval,whethe...

Re: Canoe on a Float Plane Question

I think the canoe prevents a lot of the slipstream from hitting left side of A.C. As far as the type of canoe, pretty well any kind can be tied on . Two vertical ropes, one forward one back. Sinch rope between, and a good nose rope. Ive never had a problem.

Re: Tips to Getting Tips

Trying to get a tip takes all the fun out of it.You get your old guys, fancy shoes and expensive watches, do a bunch of extra stuff they ask for, answer all their stupid questions and get squat. Then you get your farmers who are dressed worse than you, dont expect anything, and you get 50 bucks. You ...
