Since Nark already outed me, I'll post this one too.
Landing a 172 in a 22-23 knot crosswind component takes the flying away from the relaxing side and a bit closer to the excitement side!

Re: Motorcycle Riding and Airplane Flying
Nice vid. So, which one is better ? 8) Neither. Both are relaxing and exciting in their own ways. No doubt the bike is far more of a "rush" than flying a 172 around on a VFR day, but the airplane provides me with a great deal of relaxation. I realize I'm pretty lucky to have either hobby, let alone...

Re: ACC shift changes
Depends where you work. I work in a speciality which has some of the most dynamic sectorization day to day. Over 50 different combinations of sectors and frequency/hotline assignment. They are all pre-built however, so when you take a specific "mission" the system loads everything you need, sometime...

Absolutely despise this answer, there was no reason to.cgzro wrote:High tech pensions all went the same way 10+ years ago. Basically you are on your own in most jobs these days so NAV CANADA is not doing anything unusual.

Re: Union at West Jet
Anyway, this is why I stopped coming to the site, too many childish posters letting emotions get in the way of a real discussion, I appreciate the few here who don't fall to that level, although admittedly in the past I may have myself. I'll abstain from the conversation. I will leave by saying I ho...

Re: Union at West Jet
Inverted - the same inverted whose girlfriend at the time (WestJet CSA) had her hours reduced when Westjet cut its daily flights down to once per day? That's always irked you. Must've been PACTs fault.... No, it's a business decision. How the people are handled during and since is what irks me. Use...

I'm curious why you think that as a federal civil servant, that any of your perspective would have relevance to WJ and it's employees.
Do tell.

Re: Union at West Jet
Hopefully WestJet pilots do form a union. I'm so tired of seeing friends, and more importantly family be bullied and treated poorly to benefit some managers liking. PACT is nothing more than a shell organization which does nothing for its employees unless it happens to suit the tastes of the PACT re...

Re: changes to ATC pension plan for new hires
A) does not have the option of retiring early with a full pension, and Not quite. All depends on what you mean by a full pension. Yes there is still an early retirement option for an unreduced pension (not the same as plan A) at age 55 and 30 years service. The legacy plan is age 50 and 25. Neither...

Question about Rouge from ATC
I didn't follow the developments all the way along...
Is Rouge operated by it's own working groups?
Are those working groups unionized?
Worked my first "Rouge" flight the other day, and these questions came to mind.
Any info appreciated.

Re: Encore WACON released and surprise, it sucks
While I think it's deplorable the downward spiral in wages for pilot groups, a few in this thread need to get off their soapboxes and stop pretending you wouldn't do the same in their shoes.

Re: Westjet firms up order for 20 Q400 plus 25 options . . .
You forgot to mention in that quote, that WestJet is looking at cutting benefits and the like to mainline employees as well: He said WestJet also wants to revisit the benefits received by the mainline employees. “We have found ourselves because of where the industry has gone — mostly backwards — tha...
