I dont use flaps in xw ,as the airspeed decreases the drift increases also flaps reduce rudder effectivness and the airplane feels more bouncy in gusty conditions.I just fly the normal approach speed for the 172 [65K, if gusty a little faster] and a little higher than normal, for the rate of descent...
