Maldivian Air Taxi
Received an invatation from MAT to join the hiring pool for Captains. Since I used to work for them the had my e-mail address on file. I've been out of the Maldives loop for almost 4 years now so i'm not to sure what's going on down there but it seems they are hard up for Captains. Anyone with a flo...

Re: **UPDATED** Cold Altitude Correction - IPhone & BlackBer
If anything this is increasing work load.. How much time does it take to fiddle around with a cell phone and plug all those extra numbers in? How bout the next flight, the Captain does it the normal way, and FO plugs all those numbers into a spread sheet and see who finishes first... I guarentee it ...

Re: **UPDATED** Cold Altitude Correction - IPhone & BlackBer
Are you kidding me? We have resorted to apps and spread sheets to help us calculate cold temperature corrections? Just so you can round up anyways? I bet I can do it just as fast the normal way if not faster then have to worry about screwing around with a cell phone to help me figure out cold temper...

Re: So, you're on call...
Photography. If you have the money get yourself a nice fancy camera with lots of buttons and a tripod. What pilot wouldn't like a new fancy complicated toy to play with!? It's what I do and it takes up hours of my time while on Medevac call. I've got some amazing pictures from lightning, to northern...

Approach plate rant...
Is it just me? Or is anyone else tired of saying ridiculous words while briefing an RNAV approach. I’m talking about those retarded names of fixes like “XIBWKX” that you can’t pronounce half the time! I understand that these are computer generated names, but come on! Why not put some creativity into...

Fort Vermillion Runway extension...
Flew into CEZ4 today and noticed the bulldozers out making an extension to the runway! Spoke with a few Nor Alta pilots there and they mentioned that 1000 feet is being added along with PAPI lights. This will be real nice come winter time for those 3 am medevacs! Anyone know what the plans are for t...

Re: Words of advice for new pilots in this industry...
Not bad.... Although a few things may have been missed... 1: You will get yelled at at some point in your career.. Look at it as a learning experience, and never yell at your co pilots... They could save your life someday... 2: Try and fly floats at least once in your career... It will teach you goo...

It seems most pilots i've met are wannabe photographers as well. I guess a nice big fancy camera is another toy for us to play with! Lets see some of your best aerial shots. Here are some of mine..

Re: How loud??
I fly KA 200 and to me the noise is pretty much a non event, and I don't have noise canceling. To me it seems very quite compared to flying the twin otter in the dives when you taxi with the windows wide open to avoid sweating to death! At the end of the day, I perfer to not use a fancy head set as ...

Re: "VFR" above the clouds.
This is a very common practice up north and hate to tell you this, but that pretty much is the way it is. As for filing IFR in the north, alternates become an issue as they are few and far between. Not only that, but one must indicate all the extra fuel required for an IFR flight on paper which now ...

hahahaha that is awesome! I can relate.. I myself fly medevacs.. And the people make the difference.. We have an awesome crew here in Edmonton, both pilots and medics.. At 3 am I like to announce that the in flight movie will be snakes on a plane, followed by singing a happy tune while starting the ...

Re: Best Flying Job you have ever had
Worked a few different flying jobs from Instructing, dropping skydivers in a 206, DHC-6 in the arctic as well as floats in the dives. I have to say what I do now has been the most fun! Medevac in the big city on a 200. Been doing it for a year and a half now and I still love it. I am home every nigh...

It sure is unfotunate that it came to this. I think most of those pilots will be forced to rotate out of the arctic which has now been exteded to a one month 2 weeks off tour! Yikes! Nothing against rotating out of the arctic, but I guess if thats what spins your wheels, then go to town! Spending a ...

Wow! Sounds like shit hit the fan! Im glad I got out when I did! Pay cuts eh? Pilots deserve danger pay having overnight at Medaparrau while the cabin attendant spends the whole night on his cell phone! I don't think I got one good sleep at some of those shitty resorts. Nothing was worse then the ha...

My only question is what the hell are people doing crusing around in a hot air balloon when it's 300 overcast?? Do they have IFR ratings for balloon drivers???? hahaha Kiiiiiiding!!!
