Re: City Centre Medevac Study
Agreed. The only thing not considered in the Garrison deal is vaseline and duct tape. The Alberta tax payers are letting an incredible piece of infrastructure fall through the cracks. Gosh--what would cost compare to re-service 16/34 versus an abandonded airport with no facilities. Yes if you are re...

Re: Medevac/Air Ambulance question...
Tom, I think you have a very good grasp of the Medevac systems at present. I would only add that a Rotor will be 100% effective if one life is saved 25 miles OR 250 miles from base.

Re: Alleged violation question
A question for someone following this conversation: Heard that after a period of time the Pilot criminal can apply to have these violations removed from record? Is there any truth to this, and if so how do one go about doing this? I took one for the team over 15 years ago and it is still all over th...

Re: Decision altitude vs. Decision Height
Gonna resurrect this one in the hopes that someone has more guidance with in respect to using DA like a DH. Back in 2006 there was an exemption of some sort lurking around--I think that it used to live in the Nav Canada AIP but has since been removed. It dealt with descending below mda on a non-prec...

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
I would be surprised if any training was done during a "revenue" leg. I mean doing steep turns with a full load on is not really normal, but coming home on the dead leg where the cargo has been emptied is a perfect chance to train. In addition to a candidate FO, who's on the board the aircraft? A we...

OT and in some cases a paid meal. If you are a really good boy you might even get your plane put away for you too.

Re: Sask Air ambulance job posting
The shifts are 12 hours long and the pilots are expected to remain at base during that time. Short coffee breaks are permissible with carraige of cellphone/pager. The schedule sees a pilot work 28 - 12 hour shifts over a 9 week period. This averages out to 37.33 hours/week. The difference between th...

Re: CBC The National: Report on SMS this Wednesday
Hey Whip this article came out after the TWA accident: http://www2.canada.com/saskatoonstarphoenix/columnists/story.html?id=e28834e8-ca47-4ba4-8699-cce5b06ce874&p=2 I had a laugh when it was said on the program that if TC was still involved in oversight of TWA (at the time of the accident), they wou...

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
I am another fan of the show. Noticed that the language in the cockpit now contains such calls as v1 and v2. Some of those airstrips are pretty tight--howabout just calling Vr? Do the DC4 and C46 have net gradient climb charts?

Re: Medevac OR Medevac??
are you telling me that should not have been a "medevac" because it was a transfer and not an Evac? Yes. The MEDEVAC call is abused when a stable patient is on board. It makes no difference who is attending the patient, whether or not the patient is on a public aircraft, or whether the patient has ...

Re: Medevac OR Medevac??
Yeah and its likely the same reason I use medevac all of the time eventhough it doesnt make sense. Even us guys in the front end who arent supposed to know whats going on, can tell when things in the back are starting to go south. Even if I wasn't a medevac I think I could relay that information to ...

Re: Medevac OR Medevac??
Try as I may to drop the "Medevac" on my empty legs, I no sooner get passed to the next sector or terminal or tower and they are adding it on to my callsign. And then sometimes, from out of habit, it just slips on the end of my radio rant. It should not be a part of my callsign on regular basis. Cou...

Hey all. The original 'article' was actually a letter to the editor. I expect that some of your letters will be selected for reprint and appear in the Star next week. As a former Cadet I agree with the majority of your comments on the post. Just a little curious as to how a connection from cadets/sc...

Re: "One Day Off in Three Weeks"
Don't drop that application yet. The company has one of the best schedules you will find in the industry. The shifts are scheduled 12 hours long and split up between day and night. Over nine weeks you will work 28 (12 hour) shifts. Do the math and this works out to 37.333 hours per week. Most pilots...

Re: Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, (fixed wing)
Review the aeronautics act and CAR 101.01- definitions for “air operator”, “aeroplane”, “flight time”, “safety management system”. CARs only apply to civil a/c. GOTO the TC website and drill down through SMS. All that stuff is pertinent: definitions, components etc. The Civil Aviation definition for...

Re: LifeGuard 3 King Air B200 off runway Maple Creek SK
While it may not have any direct significance in this incident you may want to ask this question: Why does Saskatchewan operate these aircraft with only ONE pilot while every other province operates with two trained pilots on similar aircraft? In fact, it is REQUIRED by the other provinces on Air A...

No, I havent made him that way. Believe it or not, these days some people don't wash their hands and they will leave their garbage behind for the next person. Re: Nut-free zone ordered on Air Canada
We're heading on a trip to the States next month with my son who has a peanut allergy. We went ahead and contacted AC who in turn (at the time) said they could not guarantee a nut-free a/c for him. So we'll notify the ticket agent on the day of our departure and we will have a good look where we are...
