Knowing the length of the final turn helps us with our planning. We are watching the relationship to the slope and slowing the rate of descent makes for an earlier intercept without levelling off and cycling the power back up and then back off when the g/s is intercepted. The goal is a constant desc...

This has probably been pointed out before, but the 500 MPIC requirement is for all the contract work they have. The government sets the bar there for Captains, and you are upgraded very fast, so they need you to be ready to go.

My first job was flying for an air taxi operator in BC in--what else--a 172. It was some of the most fun flying I have ever done. I lived up in Sechelt just up the coast from Vancouver and flew forestry workers, rich German tourists and ship's Captains all over the coast but especially into YVR and ...

Would you attend something like this? Looking for feedback!

Hello, I am putting the finishing touches on a business plan for a company that I have formed that will provide career skills training specifically for pilots. Our rational is that pilots spend thousands of dollars learning how to fly, but very little time is ever spent on the key 60 minutes or so y...

I got all fired up last Wednesday when I got 4 hits in one day, but nothing yet; a friend on the inside said I might not be considered because I do not have 4500 hours (still at 4400)--is there an actual cut-off of hours that are being considered? I have heard that most of the groundschools have guy...

That's funny you should ask; I got 4 hits yesterday too, and today nothing. Maybe they were doing a blitz yesterday or something. May not mean anything, but it probably isn't be a bad thing.

How can Jazz afford to sustain the losses of all these people leaving without even the hint of introducing a deterrent of some sort? I have heard even new hires (some with only 4-6 months of service) have bolted for greener pastures. Any nasty rumors of bonds, or are these people just considered the...

Let's just say for argument's sake that the number 60 is accurate. Of those spots, how many would be for the RJ vs. the Dash 8?

Metal,

Congrats on the call, and best of luck! Would you mind giving a general idea of your experience level? Not trying to make you give yourself away, just want to know where they are targetting right now. Thanks!

Still, for a guy trying to decide between Jazz and Canjet, not the best thing to be hearing! I would actually prefer Canjet for the equipment, routes and upgrade potential (plus living in the East) but not if the doors are going to shut... :?

Type 4 is for aircraft with rotation speeds in excess of 100 knots unless otherwise permitted as per manufacturer's specs. For example on the Dash 7 we rotate at max weight at only 85 knots but can use Type 4 due to a service letter amendment to the AFM put out by deHavilland. If you are looking for...

Does Air North ever hire from outside for the Hawker or 737? I spoke with Joe a few years ago and know that he generally prefers to promote from within. I agree with that policy, but can't see myself going to Whitehorse to work on the ramp at this point!
