Re: OT opportunities?
I'd be more concerned about your seniority. 5300 pilots with the last 1800 hired after 2021- that means a lot of fresh faced pilots senior to you for the rest of your career. The bottom third of NB captains are already late 20's/ early 30's who will sit there for 20 years before upgrading to WB cap...

Did they send us other lanyards that I haven't seen yet? I was given one of the regular ones at the picket.

Re: Being “ pilot partisan” in Canada? Who will ensure the longevity / recovery of our sector?
1. I’d credit geography and/or 2. actions that you would have been the very first to protest over a specific type of government. Two of those nations have no land borders and one of them has a DMZ with a well fortified and monitored perimeter between the only nation it shares a border with. 3. Juni...

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
Ok got it. But is there any reference in the MOS to the grievance that ACPA had supposedly filed over the % of hours that CPA carriers were doing reference to mainline? No, the CPA scope grievance is separate from the Scope let in MOA 1&2 which is mainly focused on JV flying. I don't mean this sarc...

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
Well said tailgunner. If people are so concerned about some "genie out of the bottle" situation that can't be put back in with the end of the MOAs, well it already got let out 6 months ago anyways. Arbitrators can view a member ratified choice differently. It's the reason that we lost all hope of f...

How does a video like this end up on youtube? Does Canadian Flyers put cameras in their planes or is this his own?

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired
So am I correct in understanding that any RP will not be entitled to a RIR because any position they move to is an upgraded position? Therefore, even if the company offered the RP position in the future, the original RPs would have to no RP CR except UR CR to make the move back? This would open it ...

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired
For those in the know - what was the rationale behind eliminating all of the LCC 319 and WB RP positions? Also, why the reductions on the 737? A previous bid had all 61 737’s on it. That number has since been reduced to 50. The L319 rational has a few reasons. Fleet utilization. They can park the E...

The initial 787 RPs had their license changed from full Type Rating to Cruise Relief only sometime in early 2017. I can't find the email with the actual justification right now but it was definitely a TC thing.

Re: Citizenship Requirements for Air Canada crew
Well the previous COO was not a Canadian and he was technically on the ACPA seniority list due to his flying status, but I'm honestly not sure if that was a one off or not. I personally have never seen a non Canadian passport in flight ops other than that as far as I know.

I think I understand what you are saying?
The owner has long forgotten about the hat and likely doesn't care to get it back, especially if it has CN listed. Just don't use it for something that it shouldn't be used for and leave it at that in my opinion.

Yes, extra flying is above and beyond the 77.5.Black_Tusk wrote:So no matter what any extra flying you do adds on to 77.5 even if you only few say 50 credit hours?

I would say fatigue without a doubt, the schedule can do real damage to your body and is the only thing that keeps consistent as you learn the new plane.Old fella wrote:What is the most challenging item for a pilot transiting to wide body flying for the first time

Re: Question for the wide body guys/gals
Operating FO will do every other landing unless it's something odd like a Cat III day or if the captain needs it to maintain currency. The only reason this would be is if the captain had been sick for an extended period or maybe had a part management role. Every pairing I have done in the past year ...

They still do a medical.
On my course of 20 a few years ago, 4 or 5 were called back in for followup medical appointments or questions ranging from vision to more bloodwork or ECG stuff.
It's not the kiss of death that it once was, they are just thorough.
Unless you are on drugs.

Re: 2016 Course Dates and Positions
The last union release suggested about 111 PFOs so far. Thats about 30% of the interviewees. They are obligated to take 495 out of 715, which means they can PFO about 30% which is what they seem to be doing. Off The Street PFO rates were well above 50% when I was hired a few years ago which I alway...

Re: Rouge just got rouge'd
There are a few things in there that are more restrictive than the mainline contract, but on the whole it won't change much other than the long single turn days and adding a 3rd or 4th pilot to some legs. The change from weekly flight hour to weekly duty hour restrictions would actually open up the ...

Proposed Flight Crew Fatigue Regs
Hell has finally frozen over and TC has put out their proposal. Not as restrictive as some countries, but some massive improvements that should raise the bar. http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/2/NPA-APM/doc.aspx?id=10200 I want to say thanks to those involved with the CARAC process that pushed for...

Here is why the 60+ group isn't retiring. BTW most of them won't take any pension penalty because they've have been here for more then 25 years. Majority off them are 777 captains, on average they fly a full block in 9-12 days/month, they get 5 weeks of vaca due to their years of service plus 9 sta...
