Re: Central Mountain Air weekly job ad...

Oh - and as far as the “high turnover” - 4 in the last 6 months isn’t high turn over From Sept 2017 to Sept 2018 CMA had a turnover of 37 pilots. I know this because I kept track based on the drafts. So that is a touch over 50% based on a roster of 60 pilots. You weren't here when they only had 2 d...

Re: Central Mountain Air weekly job ad...

. @77W - nope — not a manager at all. I do see what’s going on but the picture that’s being painted isn’t accurate. Grated there are those that have quit or been terminated that come on here and hide behind their usernames and paint an unfair image of the company. Relatively low time 1900 FO out of ...

Re: Central Mountain Air weekly job ad...

They want 1000 hours for the FO's on the 705 aircraft. Under 1000 hours I think they put them on the 1900's. It takes about 3 months for a dispatcher to become useful in that position. There are only two licensed dispatchers and the rest are under the supervision of those. The problem is that they w...

Re: Central Mountain Air weekly job ad...

We do write the snags in the book. But you are still going to get a phone call from management asking why you didn't "fly it to XYZ airport". Plus they will never send maintenance to fix it. They will just get a ferry permit. They don't fill the FO spots with dispatchers so much anymore because the ...

Re: Central Mountain Air weekly job ad...

I can confirm that the story is true. FA's were complaining about the state of the cabin. CMA management in it's infinite wisdom put 3 Dash 8's in Vancouver but didn't bother to hire any groomers.

Re: Central Mountain Air weekly job ad...

They have added 3 or 4 more Dash 8's to the fleet with more coming from what we have heard. To be honest I am not even sure how many we have now, seems like a new one shows up every week. No one knows why they are bringing them online. The brass doesn't bother to tell us this. But what we do know is...

Re: CMA

FO's are mid 30's and Capts are 63-64 ish to start if you don't meet contrails and 83ish to start if you do meet them. 18 days a month and pay not based on credit hours mean that most pilost burnout in 2 years. I figured out for Aug I am looking 97 credits worth of flying but since we aren't paid by...

Re: Central Mountain Air

I just looked at the current draft that came out for July and the crewing levels are

CYYC Dornier (3 planes) = 4 Capts based in CYYC + 2 Capts who are management based in Smithers. 5 FO's
CYYC Dash 1 300 = 1 Capt 0 FO's
CYVR Dash 2 100's = 3 Capts 2 FO's (1 Capt and 1 FO in gorundschool / sim)

Re: Central Mountain Air

You are correct, they do go by seniority but also (somewhat) by experience and time on type. What I mean by that is that if a pilot was trained on the 1900 8 months ago then they would stand almost zero chance of going on the 705 machines. The company won't spend the money on initial training on a 1...

Re: Central Mountain Air

Wakco's wage is accurate. The reason for the adds coming out is that the vast majority of the 1900 fo's simply weren't willing to take upgrades on either the 1900's or the 705 machines. They understand the reality that there isn't any point in staying when they could just wait for Jazz. 1900 pilots ...

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition

The company I currently work for isn't unionized and does about 40% charter and 60% sked work and is able to still pump out a schedule for its pilots every month. I'm sure Air Sprint does spend a large amount of money on airline tickets for their pilots. I'm also sure that they only spend that money...

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition

I interviewed there about 6 months ago and walked out hoping to never hear from them. They have some type of schedule but said that they would move your days off at any point if it was operationally necessary. Overtime would be payed but it was no where near enough to compensate even concert tickets...

Re: For all the Courtesy Air Alumni out there

The reason for the shutdown was two-fold, and a bit complicated. First of all they had been running thru ops managers for years. In the 4 years I was there I saw 4 ops managers come and go plus another guy show up and left after a week. This problem was mitigated by the fact the CP had been a long t...

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions

WJ started in the mid 90's. Anyone with a brain can go onto google and put that starting wage into an inflation calculator and let me know what that "starting wage" looks like compared to the "starting wage" in todays money at Encore. If you still feel these low cost carriers are offering a fair wag...
