Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

I believe it was brought back due to the new duty regs. Although they could just have put more FOs on it as well.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Generally you’ll get the PFO email pretty quick. No news is good news. Some people wait quite a while till they get the welcome aboard phone call.

I believe he means that 10 years ago you needed 4000 to 5000 hours and your ATPLs to be hired at Jazz.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Multiple YUL vacancies on the last bid so it’s definitely possible. If you did get YYZ you’d be able to bid YUL on the next bid.

Re: Regional Career

There are a lot of single day turns at mainline. The guys who have good seniority on the 330 can do YUL-YVR-YUL and work about 7 to 8 days a month. The 787, 777, at Rouge the 767 and 319 have long single turn days as well. As far as cities are concerned Jazz and Encore have the same bases as mainline.

Re: Single IFR in BC

If you want to find a single engine IFR job you’re much likely to be able to find that in Ontario lots of PC-12 (Air Bravo, Ornge, Wasaya, Morningstar) operations or up North (Keewatin, Air Tindi). You may have to leave BC. Go on Pilot Career Centre and look up operators that have PC-12s or Caravans...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Never said it was a raise. But if you need more money for the first 4 years plus a decent schedule Rouge is what to bid for.

Plus if you bid to Rouge you can make substantially more if you are willing to pick up draft.

I’d also add a PFO from AC doesn’t mean they won’t take you. There are lots of pilots who got in on their second try and a few on their third try.

Re: Typical New Hire RP Schedule.

Thanks for the correction altiplano I though it was 20. A few years ago when the RP course was a lot shorter the amount of training wasn’t very much. But now an RP course is basically a full FO course. So I’m also surprised the company doesn’t do away with it.

Re: Typical New Hire RP Schedule.

Depends. I was a RP in YYZ for 8 months. I was able to hold a block as soon as I was line checked. 20 days of reserve per month.

Re: Typical New Hire RP Schedule.

Depends, it could be as little as 9. Or if you don’t hold a block you might be home all month. I new guys who were RPs on the 87 and couldn’t hold a block, they didn’t get called out much.
