Re: Lynx and Flair to merge, AC to buy both

The company name will be "Flinx" and the call sign will be "Flauntless". Rick Flair will be the mascott and every transmission will include a WOOOOOOO! Then once AC buys the whole shooting match, the new call sign with be "Flair Canada" and the US spin off will be "Flair America"! Hahahahahah...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada

Doesn’t Emirates consider a day on layover not flying a day off?

Re: Porter Airlines - when to apply?

2 years is a long time for a lot of things to happen. I’m guessing 3 months out would be reasonable, 2 years isn’t.

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

Don’t forget COVID caused a lot of pilots who were due to retire from 2020-2025ish to pull the plug early. The ALPA career progression app had retirements going back up in 2026 or 27.

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

We have a website made by ALPA to get an estimate for the upgrade times. I was hired a year ago and can be 330 WB captain, bottom reserve, in 24 years from now. 777 captain bottom reserve 26 years from now. For narrow body, 220 captain on reserve in 3 years and a block in 8 years. That's for the YY...

Re: Commuting from YOW to YUL

Everyone that I know who is based in YOW and flies out of YUL drives. It’s a much more controllable situation then trying to commute by air.

Re: Sunwing/Westjet

Brand new cadet hire here at SWG, starting my training very soon. Given the current climate of the merger in 2024, I have following questions: 1- Since SWG will no longer have the damp lease/European deployed ops with Tui, does this mean I will be laid off this summer right after my training is com...

Re: Yr 1 FO $130k

I actually think the company will throw money at us, but they won’t budge an inch for QOL improvements (cause that will require hiring even more pilots).

Re: Cornwall Aviation

Yes, I was there last year and this year to finish my Multi-IFR. The owner of the school is Dave, he is a farmer who lacks experience in aviation industry and treats you like crap. He will take things personal, for instance if you reject his accommodation and choose one of your own, you will be in ...

I’d say it would be taken into consideration with everything else. How did you interview, post secondary education, what’s your experience, have you failed any PPCs etc…

Re: Sunwing/Westjet

I’m guessing like in a bunch of other mergers there’ll be fences so you’ll keep your seat. But doing 7-8 turns down south will be gone, I’d guess you'll be doing multiple leg days for 15-16 days a month.

"A220 operators have still had to grapple with some durability issues, compounded by a shortage of spare engines and maintenance bottlenecks that have collectively reduced the supply of working engines and left dozens of planes grounded." https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/pratt-eng...

Not BS. My friend had an ATPL. My reply was to a member who said they didn’t understand HR at times and I gave an example of not understanding HR at times. Yeah but your situation and your example do not connect at all. In one post you say that you're an ATPL candidate and in your example your frie...

I've been told it's 20 Jazz, 20 OTS for the next 4 classes. Hope they will reach, did interview late July, backgd and ref checked, then a psy video interview after a second negative MMPI. Nothing then. Probable PFO on the way. They’ll send you to a psychiatrist who’ll chat with you for a while to m...

Re: Negotiations

I voted NO to this agreement. This amount of pay increase (at the cost of working MORE!) will do nothing to retain or attract pilots with any experience. I am top payscale so I got 15% which is hardly a raise at all considering inflation. As mentioned above all the dirty tactics and meddling by Air...
