Re: Swoop Blacklist
If we could get a one list with Swoop, like Encore, that YOS will follow back to mainline. Those that took up the 2 year LOA have at least ensured that. That's one massive assumption in the GS era. This is all about low costs. We don't have a YOS at WestJet unless your Captain 37 going captain 67. ...

Re: Two union drives
You boy really need to keep up on events. Bill C525 passed without the amendment allowing auto certification. "Bill C-525 requires that the certification and decertification of a union as a bargaining agent under these Acts be achieved by a mandatory secret ballot vote–based majority." Read the bill...

Re: Two union drives
The title says two union drives and there look to be many more than that. Bets of luck to the Encore group. I hope that their "resounding majority" infers that they have greater than 50% and that they can apply for cardcheck denying the company the opportunity to play their games. The voting proces...

Re: WJ Pilots seek ALPA unionization vote
#37 While many of the ALPA OC were honest about what a union can and can't do, there were just as many who made big promises based on the listener's list of grievances. The usual laundry list of better pay (and not just AC, but parity with US carriers  ), pension, improved YOS, etc. All trigg...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
The only people currently making this adversarial is management and the WJPA with their "voice of management " fear mongering. Alpa has been nothing but professional . Encore won't lose their one list ( Management can't attract pilots without it- they want it more than the pilots do, lol ) And seni...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
That's rich...an ideologue pointing a finger at an ideology.
I hear from many that nothing really will change with the new regime. If so, then why change at all.
It's implied that we will have more control, but history has shown this to be an illusion.

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
Right, like the current WJPA doesn't only publish the facts that suit them : 90% voted in favour of new fees ! ( there was no 0% option which 70? % would have taken ) Negotiated unlimited sick days for PT pilots !! ( after unlimited being taken- Away by a middle manger who under the current lack of...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
One of the ALPA OC's biggest beefs with the current representation is the implied lack of structure and the fluidity of the agreements. This of course is an incorrect assumption only discussed to further their agenda. But its ok to modify ALPA policies, procedures and administration manuals to suit ...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
Arctic84 We have paid reserve in the current contract. It's called OCD and it's been used more often in the last 3-4 months and not just for those the part time pilots. Westjet has also implemented pay for some of those long sits. I can only guess as to whether this trend will continue, but I think ...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
So the only ones with skin in that game would be the pilot group and those who are paying the most will want something for all the extra money they are paying. Union dues are fully tax deductible. High income earners with an effective rate on last dollar earned of approximately 50% get back half of...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
Actually...the company doesn't care if we use seniority or not. The parings will still be built the same, it just gets distributed differently. So the only ones with skin in that game would be the pilot group and those who are paying the most will want something for all the extra money they are payi...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
I'm getting a good laugh out of those that think Westjet management has the time to organize an internet troll campaign and that anyone who disagrees with bringing a union in must be participating in said campaign.
I guess it's a lot easier than coming up with a valid counterpoint.

WestJet Scab #1 Employee #4799 Well, that is quite the manifesto. I am sure that Geegg and Clive are printing it for general distribution as we speak. Your loud 'no' vote will be cancelled out by just one quiet 'yes' vote. Regardless, the WJ pilots as a group are in control of their own destiny. Wh...

Union Busting entry level amateur nonsense. Hire some stooges to sit at a computer and throw out innuendo and half truths and lies. Big time industry insider. What a pant load. A very poor attempt at identity politics. Some of us actually have skin in this game and don't want to just sit by while t...
