Re: WestJet and Sunwing ground collision - YYZ
In the right wheel well of the 737, right next to the NGS light panel, there is a fire handle that shuts off the fuel to the APU and you can also blow the fire bottle. I wonder if there were any fellow AME's doing maintenance on other nearby planes who could have pulled the handle? Also the WJ 37 ca...

Every small Continental I have worked on uses an impulse coupling on both mags. The great advise given above is for a Lycoming with only one impulse coupling.

Re: 6.00x6 nose wheel in C150
Hi Bede, If you consult the Cessna 150 Parts Manual, you will see that Cessna had a Heavy Duty Nose Gear which used a 6.00x6 wheel. You can Google Cessna 150 Parts Manual, and there are multiple PDF's available for free. The fork and lower strut are different. P/M shows all the different P/N's. So n...

Re: Cessna 172 1965-G o-300 on EDO2000 with Sportsman needs help considering WING-x
You already have the Sportsman STOL kit installed, which is a major mod to the entire wing and an awesome mod to any Cessna! Your wing is now modified IAW the Sportsman STOL STC and no longer a standard Cessna wing. Any other mods such as VG's or wing extensions HAVE to be compatible with the STC mo...

TWO VULTURES BOARD AN AIRPLANE, EACH CARRYING TWO STINKY, ROTTING, DEAD RACCOONS. THE STEWARDESS LOOKS AT THEM AND SAYS, "I'M SORRY, GENTLEMEN, ONLY ONE CARRION ALLOWED PER PASSENGER."

Re: Aerial Spraying
Aerial application at night in desert areas is very normal and common. It gets hot during the day, engines and wings don't perform nearly as well in the cool night. Also the spray evaporates quickly when hot and may not reach the crop as well as it should. Bees are in the hive at night, therefore sp...

I totally agree with the above comment from ahramin. Another approved option is now available from Garmin https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/in-the- ... 70665.html

Re: non-TSO'd Avionics in a Cessna 150L?
A FAA STC on a Cessna 150 is totally valid in Canada. Cessna's are built under a FAA Type Certificate, therefore a FAA issued STC is valid.

This does not exist on the WJ767's. My dad does not fly them, but I maintain them.they have a segregated crew rest area though comprised of a seat with a partioned curtain to give them privacy

Re: What part of it's too F@$^'N Big didn't you get
I was watching the baggage dudes load a powered chair into the front pit of a 37 NG today and they had to tip it on its' side to get it through the baggage/cargo door. It took 3 of them struggling to get it in. I cannot imagine trying to load one of those into anything smaller?? I feel bad for the f...

You can buy a digital voltmeter that plugs into the cig/aux plug to see what your voltage is doing. I even saw one that had voltmeter and 2 USB charging ports the other day. Knowing your voltage is extremely important in diagnosing electrical issues. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2-Ports-12V-24V-Mini-Bulle...

If you check out Flightaware right now, you will see that all 3 WJ flights to LGW are pretty much on time! It has been that way for the past couple of weeks. It looks like the maintenance issues are hopefully getting worked out.

Re: Fixed to Rotary Maint.
Most helicopter folks have no or very little experience working on piston engines. There are many operators using Robinson helicopters and most of those are piston powered. So piston experience is VERY beneficial working on R22 and R44's. The Robinson factory maintenance course is excellent and also...

Re: Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette
Rockie is correct about airline plug doors. L1 door on a 37 NG is approx. 3'x6' ?? That equals around 18 ft^2= around 2600 in^2. Max differential pressure in a NG is 9.1 psi. 9psi x 2600^2=23660 lbs. Doors on a 67 are much larger, so WAY more force keeping them closed.

I have also seen the aluminum under the exhaust flange so corroded that there was nothing left for the flange to seal to. Chunks of corroded aluminum came off with the flange gasket.. And yes, I have also broken exhaust studs while trying to remove exhaust nut.

Re: Self maint. for purchased homebuilt
I completely agree with the FAA system were the builder who has spent many years and sometimes thousands of hours constructing his aircraft gets a limited A&P licence to inspect and repair his aircraft. If he sells the plane, the new owner has to take the plane to a licensed mechanic or the original...
