Re: To all Experianced AME

E license is for avionics. You can only do a maintenance release on anything related to electronic and electricity. Computers or any electric side of any component. M License is every aspect of a aircraft. Engine, airframe, electricity. M license can sign the same thing than a E license but an E li...

Re: To all Experianced AME

Do you like chasing the wire? ot using a multimeter all the time. Yes, avionics is for you. No, choose mechanic instead. It all comes back to that. E license is for avionics. You can only do a maintenance release on anything related to electronic and electricity. Computers or any electric side of an...

Re: AME Job Description

Could be that the pilot isn't confident in the AME carrying out the work, or that the owner hasn't kept the aircraft well maintained. It is the pilot's choice to go flying or not. Generally it's their butt/life that's on the line, not the engineer's. I trust the pilot 100% when they have to fly me ...

Re: Question: Why do PT6A-27 engines run so much colder than

I have the pdf from FreeBee stating all the different PT6 version. Basically there are saying that the -27 is similar to the basic model but with revised engine parts. Also you get 130 more horsepower on the -27 than -20. Which means that the turbine is really more effective because the design is ba...

Re: AME Job Description

I knew this thread would be turned in to " a pilot has more responsibility" ...this thread stinks of lack of respect. It gets worse every year I think. OK we get it... you guys are "commanders of the aircraft" (your words not mine). I think the last straw for me was about about two years ago when I...

Re: AME Job Description

Mostly disagree... Even in your opinion, you think that you give a perfectly serviceable a/c to a pilot if he is not happy or confident about it, you have to do something. I don't know where CRS comes from but in canadian aviation, we just talk about maintenance release. nine sixteenths statement is...

Re: Hand Tools

Stanley, at least in north america, is the parent company for proto. Two completely different lines of tools though, with proto being on par or better than snap on. Acklands was where i got my stuff. I think that Facom in europe is the brand about the same quality than Proto in us. It is part of Sta...

Re: Hand Tools

About the ratchet screwdriver and the cap that fall off on the new version. Here is my solution.

Take the cap. Put locktite glue all around, put the cap back on. Problem solve. I did it and now I enjoy my screwdriver a lot. and anyway I hate the feeling and noise of bits inside the screwdriver.

I would wait to see where you start working to see if you're going to need SAE or Metric. What king of aircraft use metric bolt patern? They only other standard I have seen is British Standard. Which is a big pain in the ass. For twister plier. Either you buy snap-on, proto, sk or mactools. They ar...

Re: Hand Tools

Helllo, First, you only need a couple freakin expensive snap-on tools. 1- Ratchet Screwdriver. It's expensive (80-90$)but it worth every penny. I got the new version but they still sell both the old and new. Ask the dealer to show you both to make your decision. 2- Offset wrench set. One with open 1...

Re: Changing fuel gauges.

@CamAero..... Military aircraft are on a other planet in aviation world. and I was refering at any device who can mesure fuel and is IN the tank when I said fuel probe. Also it can be something more than just replacing the gauges if you want a good reading of the fuel level. US gal, imp gal or lbs a...

Re: Changing fuel gauges.

Imperial Gallons gauges are the original one from the original type design. So You would need a other STC just to change it and it may not exist at all. The us gallons gauge for the extra tank and us gallons fuel flow meter are all part of the engine mod which is part of a completely different STC. ...

Re: Painted hangar floors

A painted floor certainly looks really good but make sure someone clean it with a zamboni or something like that each day
because oil or water make it slippery as hell. I've already been stuck with a skyjack because the floor was too slippery and the wheel was just spinning around.
