Re: 2026 PIT FLEET AC
Asked Chatgpt did Emirates destroy Quantas? The Canadian government in the name of less Canada carbon emissions opened the door to middle east carriers. These carriers who are state sponsored, have discriminatory flight attendant hiring practices, have state of the art pilot training , will be a con...

Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair
My opinion, union reps and management types are all the same. They like talking and not flying. All I know is both the majority of narrow body and wide body pilots schedules are brutal. Company not following the contract. The kicker for me , was seeing a photo of 6 union reps in Winnipeg giving a br...

Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
I am only going to comment one last time. But , someone had posted part of their flight plan that listed the crew names and other information. There was a note stating, "If radio altimeter number 2 is placarded deactivated and number 1 fails follow procedure in qrh temporary supplement located in ef...

Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
Another point to remember is application of power in a tail mounted engine aircraft like the CRJ will pitch the nose down instead of up with wing mounted engines like a 737. The nose does appear to go down in the final stages but may have been lowered to gain airspeed, but then the airplane hits the...

Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
This is terrible to watch. I have 1200 hours on the CRJ, mostly on the CRJ 100/200. The remainder on the CRJ 900 (705). Many years ago mind you. First ,The CRJ 100/200 lands fairly shallow and the CRJ 900 lands quite a bit nose higher, where a flare is definitely required. I cannot believe that thes...

Re: Poor service
Was going to post about how below average the ATC is in Vancouver and found this thread right away. Flow control on every flight? This puts severe stress on operators to meet these times. Airlines need to stop flying to Vancouver, period. Can NavCanada bring in controllers from other regions for the...

Somewhat related….
I see executives from Exchange Income corporation (EIC) , who own PAL , buying a lot of EIC stock lately.
Do you think they will buy Chorus? Are they expecting a huge windfall from Air Canada contracts?
Nothing surprises me anymore.

Re: How old is to old to go to AC?
I Just turned 43 and just got the call to start the interview process at AC (application submitted pre-covid), presently I'm at Jazz going on my 5th year. I'm wondering if I'm too old by AC standards to make this move? Financially it would set me back 5-6 years (almost 50 y.o. at this point). I als...

A lot of the management guys hate me but I stand for all pilots in Canada and want improved working conditions And increased wages across the board. Re: Possible Government assistance for training pilots.....given to the airlines?!
The population is getting older and people are having less children. Less people for all career paths. Young people seem to like computer jobs. It is not fair to say they are lazy. As far as weak candidates, maybe? Air Cadets is a great program and should be expanded. But, I heard last year that due...

Use to take 10 years to FO wide body. Crazy!!!!
Making 50 grand in the right seat , I think AC pilots should not look any other airline crew in the eyes as we walk by in the terminal.
We suck......

At my multi turbine operator many years ago, the best Captains were the FOs who started at 250 hours and upgraded after 1000-1500 hours in the right seat. We had direct entry Captains who came from being Navajo Captains and they were below average. Instructors with 1000 hours PIC , who joined as FOs...

Good post.
The funniest thing I heard last month, was a Teal team Captain who was sent to charm school for bugging his young FO, on how little experience they had. The FO said, " you should respect the journey I took to this seat....."
ha ha millennials!!!!

Hi.
AC runs with minimal crewing as it is.
We need to do our block and go home.
Unless they throw a bunch of wide body's on some domestic routes...but even then , short pilots...
The guys that pick those up in open flying are just greedy a-holes.
Stay united.

Re: Exit Polls Showing Over 90% Strike Mandate Support
I am a pilot at the other major airline in Canada . I have a book on how Westjet started. One of the pilot founders actually was involved in a union at his previous airline and disliked the union politics and wanted to make pilots have a strong say and renumeration in the company without a union. Loo...

Just an observer from the other major airline in Canada.... I believe Westjetters do a lot of extra work for free. You are getting burned out. Support your union, they are very sharp and looking after you. I know a lot of them. Be thankful you have a union in the event of a future merger. How would ...

Re: Interview
The reason for this policy was because new hires from other parts of the company would get hired and fly back to their country and not come back, immediately after starting employment. You would think pilots would be exempt , but they have to apply it to all departments.
