Re: Westjet FO take home pay
2nd Year 737 FO Last few months average out to ~$7,700 per month take home (not including REIP as I came from Encore). I very rarely pick up Open Time but do occasionally and also have a pairing finish after 2am the next day which triggers 4 credits of Premium, but most months in that average do no...

Re: WJ mainline cancelling GS due to lack of experienced applicants
When comparing AC and WJ you should add 15% to AC pay due to company pension contribution and paid benefits (these never show up on a T4), it is probably more than 15% but it puts you in the ballpark. Whereas a WJ T4 is the all in price. For me, if i hear of a high paid WJ pilot, great, what is impo...

Re: What age is too old to go to AC and collect a full pension?
RRSP's do not equal DC. Very similar though. In a group rrsp if you put in 6% and the company puts in 12%, you pay tax on the company's contribution. In a DC if you put in 6% and the company puts in 12%, you pay NO tax on the company's contribution. -->This is why AC pilots net a lot more money than...

You should be deported on behalf of all Canadian pilots. But this could increase company costs and create a need for even lower wages

It seemed like an OK product. I know it's all about $, so if Avsoft will end up being cheaper than paying a GS instructor it might win, but for me it was an ineffective way of learning.

Re: Air Canada pension plan regulation
The recently hired pilots holding their pensions in the DC plan could have their plans improved without government oversight as they appear to be excluded from these regulations. So I hope the union commits to bringing them up to the maximum contribution level i.e. 18% (pilot 6/Company 12). I thoug...

Re: Air Canada buying Jazz?
From AC's point of view it could make sense.
-Sell Jazz off in '06 for 1B.
-Rebuy Jazz in '13 for 300M.
Also Jazz makes like 100M a year off the CPA, AC could pocket that money annually.

I say vote Yes for below industry standard wages, high benefits, and 2nd class treatment to WestDad! That would be the smrt pilot thing to do. And I am sure our share price will sky rocket, I mean since WJ announced these plans yesterday the stock is down 1.5%. I think everyone will be millionaires ...

They know their guests don't like props, no one really does when giving the choice. And they would be forced to do a name change.... Maybe they'll get a deal from the Fed's if they buy Bombardier. Time will tell

Well yes and no, 2011 hasn't really seen plenty of retiring yet. So far this year Jazz has had 6 retirement's. It is true our boom is starting but it is going to be 10-20 guaranteed retirements per year for the next 5 years. Nothing like mainlines retirement boom.

AC sues Jazz?
So AC is asking Chorus to repay them 26M from 2010. AC is no longer happy with the current CPA markup that Jazz receives and they want to change it and have Chorus back pay them for the last two years (2011 repayment amount is still TBD). So as with everything at AC these days it is going to arbitra...

Re: Jazz Pension Question
DB's have their advantage, if you were about to retire in the spring of 2008 with your personal DC and then your 2M went to 1M you would be a little grumpy. Under the the DB the company takes that risk for you. ( which creates its own set of risks ) so really each to his own. I don't think anybody n...

I concur as well. You should have your travel privileges pulled for life. Complete violation of the employee travel rules. Why don't you call WestJet and ask them what loads they are interested in!

That's a little funny I sold at 17.1 after taking them for a little more than 50%. Of course hindsight says I should have held on a little longer but I began to ask myself how long can this good run last. I mean there dividend is more than they are earning so sometimes they have to take from the ban...

I guess if the company wants to hassle pilots to come in and do a WDO at time and a half instead of hiring a newbie at 36K then that's their business.
And can we confirm anyone was actually called for the July 19 GS, (I struggle to believe they did)
