Look at the European Carriers. Well paid regional's. CASM's higher. Ticket prices higher. Lufthansa has the highest CASM in the world yet is one of the most profitable. Go figure. The difference? they don't practice capitalism to the extreme they do in the US. They also have much stronger labor law...

Re: The insanity of this industry
From your post, it pretty much sounds as though you answered it yourself: number 3.
Lots of people go into the industry saying "I am going to be one of the pilots who makes it to the big leagues." and althought many do... many also don't.
you're choice in the end.

Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
For the sake of ALL JAZZ PILOTS, I hope we DO NOT see the AMERICANIZATION of the Canadian regional airline service. For years salaries have gone down and the work load has gone up. When is it going to stop? When we're earning $17.5k a year like the rookie regional pilots in the U.S.? I think Jazz pi...

Re: Is one crazy to be considering a ramp position with 800TT?
It's funny how a year ago we were facing a global pilot shortage and now people with 800TT have a hard time finding a flying job. Just goes to show how quickly things can change in this industry.

Military offers good pay and benefits, but you have to work hard and the selection process is tough. Keep your options open. The advice the other guys have given you is good.gwones wrote: I'm also considering to join the air force once I graduate from college(this is just a consideration).

I tend to agree with some of the other posts, this hiring advertisement may just be for pooling as a preemptive strike before negotiations. But who knows!

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Do jazz pilots get a Air Canada mainline seniority number(i mean is there some sort of a flow up/flow through agreement with AC)? also if the work rules are pretty much same as any regional? how is the overall morale in the company? How is the pension at jazz if there is one?, and do pilot's retire...

I was in the car with a few of my pilot friends driving to the canucks game and we came across this interesting topic that I thought I could share with you guys.
