Re: Mandatory life jacket wearing coming for most seaplanes
My concerns with toggles, are the 20+ years as a professional seafarer. During rescue boat drills on more than one occasion. The manually inflated pfd would activate. Ie toggles snagged on something. Whether that was pulling casualty/dummy out of water or snagging when hooking onto davits. Who knows...

Re: Mandatory life jacket wearing coming for most seaplanes
I'm pretty certain Life jackets will hinder egress. Most definitely would have prevented me climbing out of the window of my Beaver. Door Jammed. Possibly would have led to premature activation, midway through window opening. Having lost watch and multi tool in the process. However if you are lucky ...

Re: Pilatus Porter in Indonesia
Have a buddy who started his trade there right seat in the van. Now flies airbuses in China. Can't be all that bad. Probably depends on the individual. Still a big risk flying to Indo and risk failing compass testing. Each to their own though.

Re: Hour building for an European pilot—where?
Try Harvs Air Steinbach or St Andrews. Did most of my hour building there. They have pilot digs as well. Plenty of long distance flights to complete

Re: Which school is better? HARVSAIR or moncton flight coll
Tried both. Initially hour building with Harvs at Steinbach and St Andrews, both good spots. Good learning environments with a keen eye on safety. Went through an ICAO CPL Conversion process with MFC (5 years ago) when they had financial issues. Got grounded due to not having X-amount of CAD on my a...

Any 'race' that thinks it is superior to anyone elses culture is probably as broken and as flawed as everyone else....ESPECIALLY when their contribution to the world is fish & chips as well as having the highest inbreeding percentage of the 1st world nations. #CalmDownSon #ReadALittle We make great ...

Re: 35 dual for CPL: with whom?
Going back to the original post. Fulfilling the dual 35 hour requirement with a foreign instructor. I hope thats not the case, wasting 4 grand in extra dual flights, holding only a UK PPL to start with. TC told me only solo time counted towards the CPL. Anyway have the CPL now so chuffed to bits, no...

Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. Did 50 hour Float course out West was fab, got a real thrill and sense of enjoyment.
Will take your advice and try and touch bases with Tartan Air and people at Havelock.
Cheers Again, safe flying.

Re: Seaplane Training Expiry Question
Hi,
Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately due to work commitments I couldn't sit the Seamanship Exam required for the JAR attachment.
However the currency issue all makes sense. Will blow off the cobwebs and try and find a suitable plane/pilot to retrain with.
Thanks Again

Seaplane Training Expiry Question
Hi All, Just a quick question, which I hope somebody, will be able to clarify for me. Back in late 2007 I undertook a 50 hour Seaplane Course which incorporated the TC Floatplane Rating, out West. Unfortunately at that stage I only held a JAR PPL, so on fulfilling the TC requirements the Rating was ...

Re: Pilots in New Brunswick?
Hi Gents,
Lode thanks for doing the hardwork I intended to pose the question myself.
Moved to NB last May from Old Blighty and keen to get airborne in NB.
Have only flown in BC and Winterpeg.
Is there anything in Miramichi, rental wise?
Cheers
