Re: AC Rampies walk off the job
I support the workers of Air Canada 100%. It should be no surprise to anyone that if the goverment plays fast and loose with the rules, so will some employees. Unfortunately, Lisa Raitt is a customer of Air Canada. If I flipped off one of my customers because I didn't like them or the way they treat...

Re: Air Canada Interviews
I am just wondering if anyone can provide some info on getting the call. I have 3500 hours TT, not quite 1000 MPIC over 12500 (haven't ticked off the check box yet), aviation college. At least four of my friends have had calls. Most with 500 hours more than I have but one had 500 less. Any suggestio...

Curious whether WestJet will continue to hire for the mainline over the next year in light of the regional. Still based strictly on internal references?

Re: Raising the Bar.......Go west or east. Its the other si
When they offer good salaries to people without a type rating but significant industry experience that is when the bar will have been raised. There is just something wrong with Air Canada's management receiving a 1500% raise in the last ten years when the pilots haven't even had a cost of living inc...

Re: 42 day duty rule
I have never worked at a job where we were pushed to fly that much. I was just talking about it with one of the guys at work. I am asking about the days free from duty, not flight duty time. All of this assumes that you were doing short hops or some sort of "other duty." I think I've got this figure...

42 day duty rule
We all know that CARS were written by lawyers for lawyers. I'm just trying to remember and understand the extended duty rules. Here's my interpretation of 720.19 Requirements for Time Free from Duty (http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/regserv/cars/part7-standards-720-2153.htm#720_15) If you are 7...

I'm just curious what is going on with the LCC that was announced in the spring time. I'm not trying to start anything. I just haven't heard anything about it over the noise of the mandatory retirement debates.

Duty Day Limits
I can't seem to find a summary of 704 and 705 duty day limitations. Is it only the 7&30 day limits that change? There's a nice summary of 702 and 703 limits here:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/r ... htm#720_15
Anyone with a nice, simple summary of 704 and 705?

I knew her. Married, but don't know her last name or where she went after Sarnia. Think she got out of flying because she couldn't afford the MIFR.

Define North. Garmin won't support a good chunk of Canada (north of 63 I think) but they do support Alaska. Odds are it'll probably work, it's getting the certification to prove it that has stopped most companies I know of.

Re: Information on flying in Japan
Money isn't everything. That's what I keep telling Mrs. Willing ever since I started flying for a living...I would take Japan over China any day for the lifestyle, safety and the Japanese onsen (hotsprings). There aren't a ton of opportunities right now. There used to be a lot more. Depending on you...

I am in a similar position to you. I know a few people that landed at AC with little/no MPIC. Like you they had some single PIC. A friend of mine asked me to think of it like this: After you wait a long time to get upgraded and put in a year or two in that seat will you likely go on to Jazz anyway? ...

+1 for the LogTen Pro.
FWIW, Transport doesn't require companies to certify logbooks correct any longer. That's what your signature is for. If you have need to print out an electronic logbook for any reason Transport will accept it with your signature on top stating that the times are correct.

Are there any Summit Air guys/gals on here that can provide a little more information about the hiring? Interested to know what kind of schedule and pay Summit offers. Also, how many positions are open?

I remember when I was working for one of the puppy mills. All the instructors would tell their students that when they were done their PPL, they should work on a Commercial. Their big sales pitch was that even if you didn't use it, it would be good to bring your skills up to the next level. Maybe I'...

I work up north. My company requires a RAIC. We also do sim training in the US. We also need a medevac license and they ask for a criminal background check and sexual abuse registry check. Float flying may be the way to go. No RAIC, no sim training and no medevac licenses. The other issue not mentio...
