Re: Orca RTO/Overrun CAT4
...I thought you were a manager in airport security? I was. I also said I have an ATPL which suggests I have done more than that. I'm pretty unique. Given the above, if I keep posting here it is likely my anonymity will disappear, so this will be my last visit to the forum. Pour some of your 40 in ...

Re: TC's RAIC authority being challenged
A question to The Stig and Human Garbage... Are you employed in aviation and in what capacity? I'm employed in aviation. Worked on the security side and then management hence my familiarity with the legal side of aviation. I still have an ATPL/Group 1, but don't use it in a practical sense anymore.

^Agreed! I don't think this woman has received competent legal advice if she thinks she has a chance of winning. Never seen the Federal Court reverse a decision made by the TC Security Clearance Program Advisory Body yet. I've read a couple dozen so far. Section 4.8 of the Aeronautics Act states in ...

Boots. Specifically Solovair. They are the British made Doc Marten. Docs have been made in Thailand since 2000 or so and the quality isn't great. These are still hand made in Northamptonshire, England by NPS (established in 1881). I am willing to pay more for a product made in the first world that a...

What if someone who is already more than 30 years old (like me ) turning 31 in october, decides to go back to school with the aim to become an airline pilot ?... I started at 29. Instructor, then hauled ass and trash 703, and finally a specialty and management in 702. Its been a tough go, especiall...

I've flown them for three different operators; normal Vr (not short field) was either 85 or 90 Kts depending on the particular company SOPs. I can't really...

...UCTE is not the association for the AO's as that is the CFPA... That is correct of course. Sorry that my post made it sound otherwise. What I wrote was in reference to the linked UCTE paper. Appendix 3 is an Abacus survey that was commissioned by UCTE that happened to poll both AO and TI employe...

Re: Has SMS led to the downsize of Transport Canada inspecto
I think you are going to have to file an Access to Information request to get numbers of inspectors. A regulator was correct about approaching the unions for information as well. They may have some data you can use. As to breakdown of background for AO and TI classifications, the best I could find i...

Re: Female aircraft engineer needed for mentoring - know any
Oh, sorry. I don't volunteer for things like that. I feel it's gender discrimination: whether we're selectively encouraging people or selectively discouraging people, it's still selective, and that's not right. Even if it was girls AND boys, I'd still want to be paid, however. I'm not sure I would ...

Re: ATF Procedures
Because a $200 ICOM transmits only 1.5W of power (if that) using AA batteries, which into the dumb rubber whip antenna doesn't transmit as far as 30 feet from inside an aircraft. There's a reason that aircraft radios are run from a solid electrical system and through an external antenna with a grou...

Re: How to offer in flight wifi on 703 planes
It would be difficult to equip an aircraft with Wifi services without the equipment itself being STC approved. Such an installation would be classified as a major modification... While I agree totally with your first statement about the STC, it could be possible as minor mod too. Predicated on find...

Your reading of the law is correct. You lose the privilege to operate whatever you were caught operating impaired. Re: Can a Canadian non-instructor fly pic from the right sea
As I understand some aerial photography is flown single pilot from the right seat. AFS is an example of it. Mind you this is all done in a 152 at that company. Not sure if that makes a difference. I've never seen that. Not saying it isn't fact, but I did survey for quite a while. Interesting for su...

Re: Phone number
Does it work the other way? Can you give a tower controller a number to call you after a flight so you can "discuss" their behaviour? That would be useful, sometimes. Just for information, so nobody gets the wrong idea, CADORs aren't issued by the tower and they're not a punishment. Nor is it a tow...

Really? You cant think of any reason they would not be aligned with the runway? Actually, I see it is an LNAV approach, so it could be out a bit especially if doing a dive+drive. I was just going to point this out, but you got it. Orca had one slide off the end in 2007 I think it was. That was due ...
