Re: Bizjet runway excursion YFB
Thanks, yes just past taxiway Echo and the rock outcrop next to the FOL. I agree frozen ground must have really helped. From what I can tell there are 4 big ruts from the 2 rescue trucks and maybe one single rut to the left looks like it may have been from the plane but not sure. Didn't want to get ...

Re: Turkish 737 lands at the wrong airport
This happens all the time. See, in Canada, airports are 100 miles away from each other. But other places in the world may have airports quite close to each other. A similar mistake is the wrong runway. There was a fatal crash recently when a commuter tried to take off on a short runway at LEX. Also...

Re: excessive flying style?
Thanks YBW that's one of my favorite video's of Mr. Bob Hoover and I couldn't locate it for a while. Yes it totally is a night and day difference for sure. Everything is pre-planned and the plane is gracefully controlled at all times. It doesn't look like he's stressing the airframe at all! It's lik...

haha that's exactly what I thought when he casually says "besides my Navion I have a DC-3... that's my airforce" wow what a life indeed!yzfer wrote:Nice video. Oh man, what I'd give to fly one of those planes.
I cant believe he has his own DC-3. Talk about leaving the dream!

Super 'connie' flight from New York to Miami
I really like this one! Almost like the itvv series for the non-pilot but nice and old school! Has anyone on this forum flown one of these beautiful aircraft?

A couple of blackbird vid's. Re: excessive flying style?
I just mean because he has a pax onboard who seemed to be getting nervous and I can't figure out the point of making steep looking turns close to the ground just to buzz some dirt strip. I don't know maybe he's an aerobatic pilot and it's totally normal flying for him?

Re: Guess What! - Canadian North Flight 466/467 cancelled again!
Yeah I paid $1852.55 +gst for a 2 week advance fare at Christmas from Iqaluit to Ottawa return! That is their best fare available  They had gone mechanical for the 2 days before my flight so they just had a full configuaration on my flight, first time I've ever seen that! maybe 85 seats! Seem...

Re: Flying a B200 into CYGZ
Thank you guys especially ettw for explaining those numbers, I definitely don't mind going now and yes sir I would go by the book every time so that completely answers my question. I didn't realize they had the Raisebeck performance mods (or what that was) and forgot to consider it's usually -30C or...

Re: Flying a B200 into CYGZ
haha sorry I am an idiot, that was a dumb question. I was just sort of asking if it would be the best value if the DHC-6 is available at the nearest airport (which it is, and was). Basically, for 20k+ every year would it be a better value to just take the DHC-6? I'm starting to think I should never ...

Flying a B200 into CYGZ
:?: about flying a B200 (commercially) into CYGZ. My employer wanted me to jump on the flight but Borek told me they've never flown a B200 into CYGZ and only use DHC-6's. So I didn't go, but our staff make the trip every year. Is this a total non-issue or is my concern justified in any way? If an en...

Re: PPL - Ottawa region
Thanks very much chipmunk and cgzro! In that case I will visit each of those schools with some questions when I arrive in December. I've seen the OAS website and it looks great too! Will have to check it out in person soon. The Diamonds look like very nice trainers so maybe I will decide after I've ...

PPL - Ottawa region
Hello all, I am starting my PPL training this December full-time and was hoping I could get some opinions on a couple schools. I've read all the posts about the schools in this area and found them very helpful. I'm probably going to Cornwall since I'll be in the area and I've seen some good reviews ...
