Re: Nosewheel Flutter: can anyone help me with the physics?
I think the Grob G115 is a great airplane but I believe that the landing gear, specifically the nose gear is one of the weak points in the aircraft. I have owned one for over 14 years and done a lot of instruction in it. The nose gear is very finicky, and even when it is in perfect condition you nee...

Re: Corona virus and flight training
I know the flight school that I am associated with is still flying, both dual and solo flights. There is no way of social distancing in our two seat trainers. I took the personal decision to stop flying, since I don't want to be a part of spreading the virus and I am also at the age where I don't wa...

CYQG - Solar Farm
They are well into the installation of the 100,000 solar panels on 300 acres on the Windsor Airport. I understand the following reports and studies were done: Project Description Report Construction Plan Report Design and Operations Report Decommissioning Plan Report Noise Study Report N...

Re: Flap setting on walkaround
G115 Flaps M.jpg I'm also thinking about changing the flaps to the down position for the walk around, but for a different reason. The Grob G115 is a low wing, and with the flaps left up there is the potential for someone to step on the flaps when entering the cockpit. I'm thinking about having the ...

Re: London Flying Club - 1978 Rates and Aircraft
Tinker, I have to admit that I'm pretty bad with names in my old age. I know you're not Linda or Marlene, but I think you tried to talk me into buying a C-337, before I got into the PA-30-300 (ZUV). Rob Robinson was my instructor for PPL. Paul Albers was my ground school instructor. There was also J...

Re: London Flying Club - 1978 Rates and Aircraft
I also have a receipt for C FQEX which was at Piper Cherokee, PA28-140, for $27.00/hr. I can remember when it came onto the line in 1977 fresh from the factory. It still had that new car smell.

London Flying Club - 1978 Rates and Aircraft
I opened up an old box in the basement and found some old receipts from the London Flying Club. With a rental rate of $19.50/hr for "ENO" the Fleet Canuck, I was able to fly and eat. I think I broke my bank account when I started to fly the Twin Comanche "SNW" at $56.50/hr, which was big bucks for m...

Re: MetGraph iPhone/iPad App
Colby, I loaded the fix up over the weekend and it works great! I was wondering if there was any way of changing the scale on the Y axis, either in the setup, or if you could use a spread gesture to zoom in a bit. In the visibility report the scale is up to 20, so anything less than a mile is diffic...

Re: S.A.F.E.
Just joined the organization a few days ago so I can't say too much yet. Their web site lists only one other Canadian member in Richmond Hill as of the 23 of Feb. They also have an online library available to members that I'm still going through. Looks like there might be some interesting stuff. I'v...

Re: Aerobatic Harness
I'm not too concerned about pulling a lot of negative g's in the Grob. If I just I hold slight negative g's for too long, the engine starts to sputter, and I find that a little bit distracting. It also means a bit of a clean up after the flight to wipe off the oil. I'm just trying to work on doing e...

Re: Aerobatic Harness
Just got a reply from the AME. One set of replacement belts, the same as I have will cost about $600. and three weeks. I might still look into the hooker harness. Years ago I remember flying in a Pitts S2 with the extra lap belt. More recently I flew in a Decathlon with the hooker ratchet system, bu...

Aerobatic Harness
I have just imported a Grob G115 into Canada for some basic aerobatics. This aircraft doesn't have an inverted system so I won't be hanging from the belts for any period doing anything inverted. The present harness has a Schroth rotary buckle that doesn't always want to release. (took me a couple of...
