Re: What are the unlucky doing?

Laid off Airbus Capt. I was a trucker back in the 90s, so I went back to long haul. The weather in the US the past few weeks has been less than fun, and I’m not enjoying driving for 22-25 days a month, but I’m lucky I have a job. Tons of companies begging for drivers out there, so if you’re on EI ge...

DQ - Dual Qualified. This program is already over, but a large chunk of us flew the 737 during the winter season, and widebody Airbus during the Summer season. Just a matter of doing an extra sim at PPC renewal time. CCQ - Cross Qualification. The shortened training required to swap from A330 to A32...

It would appear as though it'll be 737-800s again this winter.

That's excellent Gilles!
I am sure that facts won't get in the way of the usual mouth-breathers vilifying TS for this incident, but I learned lots from reading this.
As usual I'm smarter after you've put in the work for me.

Re: Schedule

First year would work out to around 60k its true, although that does not include Per Diems and expenses (dry cleaning allowance, shoe allowance etc etc) Per diems in a busy month up to 1700$ Slower month (shoulder season like NOV or MAY) less than that for sure. Second year you'd make over 70k. Thir...

Re: Air Canada Rouge EGPWS warning at Huatulco

Just flew into HUX the other day; my second time there ever, and my first in over 4 years. It was about a 6-7k ft ceiling over the mountains and basically SKC over the water. The controllers are very clear, "Thick Mexican Accents" and all, that you are now radar service terminated. And even if you w...

if you have the patience to read this all the way (which you do, if you have the time to comment all about it on avcanada), it will shed some light on what happened in YOW.

TS this year has only a single wet lease.
They reciprocated 100%.

Re: Creating Jumpseat Agreements

Transat is free, just come to the counter with your ID, License and RAIC. That's it.
We would love to have you on board, not least because many of us commute using these agreements and we are anxious to reciprocate!

Re: Sunwing fleet and pilot rosters for the 2015/2015 season

That's not true (entirely) We managed to boot half the foreign wet leases out by signing a deal to work more hours. There are still 2 foreign wet leases this winter. None next year or ever (that's the deal anyhow). Still 1-2 EnerJet and 1 Cdn North. Lots of Canadian pilots got hired and were upgrade...

Re: Current Bird, Bucket List, Dream Job

A330 and B737NG
Bucket List could never be full, but Sopwith Camel is at the top. I haven't truly used rudder pedals in a LONG time though, so that would end badly and quickly.
Dream Job - have it, but would also love to see a B747-8 based in YWG.

Re: Air Transat hiring and Groundschool 2015

I am an Anglo (can bash around in French a little) and so was at least half of my class (and both my sim partners so far) at TS. Being able to speak French is an obvious asset at a company based in YUL, but why not apply either way? It is totally possible to commute at TS, and there are many of us w...

Re: Air Transat Jumpseat riders

As a YWG-YYZ Transat commuter, I too would like to extend my thanks to both the AC and the WJ Flight crews. This privelege means a great deal, and I certainly appreciate the professional courtesy.

A big thanks for the help and enormous patience of the CSAs from both companies as well.
