Re: IFR renouvellement + 24 mois

Re: Socata down S. of Jamaica, 2 dead, possible loss of pres
An idea, a way to a solution? Those airplane have advanced electronics and integrated autopilot. If a sensor would monitor O2/pressurization, after the alarm is ON for a minute, the transponder could squawk 7700 and a couple of minutes later the autopilot would descend to MOCA or 10000' the higher. ...

Re: IFR recency
How do we regain currency after, let say, 14 months not flying IFR after a renewal? A) Just jump in and do the 6/6 in VFM with a safety pilot? B) Redo a test with an DFTI? Private usage of IFR rating. Six hours of instrument flight takes longer and probably costs more than a check ride. Quickest is...

Use 4 key word: To Who From who Where we are (altitude very important) Where We go (or intentions) The pilots/students I fly with coming with some previous experience and use those looooog useless transmissions are telling me they learned it this way. I cut it short and ask to ear only essential inf...

Re: Any pilots here know what to do with a fearful passenger
For very nervous persons Cut the experience in very small pieces. Accept that person needs more time. 1st contact : sit in the airplane to talk about anything that person likes until forgetting you are sitting in an airplane. Let some silence be. Some persons need silence to think about how and when...

Re: Foreflight
I use ForeFlight for more than a year. Just returning from a series of flight that took me from Montreal to Key West and back. I use a Garmin 510 with XM Wweather on the yoke. ForeFlight is on the iPad 2 - 32G (because I have it if not, it would be an iPad mini) and on the iphone5 as a back-up. The ...
