Took Air Canada almost 9 years from ordering to receiving. Unless Westjet buys someone else's slots there would be no 787s on the property until 2023ish. I also see this limiting them from purchasing the C-Series when they can just buy the 737 MAX7. They went with Boeing for commonality with the 777 and 787... so why go to the C-Series when you can just buy the smaller version of the planes you just bought. You know there's no such thing as a "frozen ATPL" in Canada right? So it seems unlikely that WestJet would care that much vs someone who has just the IATRA, although I certainly have no direct knowledge of this.
