Re: Layoffs
If I could give a guy who owns a L39, some B1 passes to retire, I would. But surely you can just buy the tickets. 10k is a lot, but not when you have millions. My dad lost $700k in the stock market in this. Worked so hard his whole life (not airlines). Total Alberta blue collar work horse Deserves ...

Re: WestJet Group Hiring Freeze
Yes I have been through all the mentioned crisis before this, all the oil shocks. Nobody, at any time, said everybody stay home. We simply got on with it. Some people took big hits. So it goes. But, apparently, we are "woke" these days and we will wait out whatever it is at home. What a farce. Any ...

Those were loans, all paid back with interest. In fairness, Bandaid is at least partially right. Loans from a government given at either below market rate or when traditional lenders are unwilling still obviously benefit the recipient. Taxpayer money is either at higher than normal risk or not earn...

Re: Widebody announcement
Took Air Canada almost 9 years from ordering to receiving. Unless Westjet buys someone else's slots there would be no 787s on the property until 2023ish. A little misleading as there were no deliveries to anyone for the first 6 years following that order... How is that misleading? Those same custom...

Re: Air Canada signs $6.5B Boeing 737 Deal
I also see this limiting them from purchasing the C-Series when they can just buy the 737 MAX7. They went with Boeing for commonality with the 777 and 787... so why go to the C-Series when you can just buy the smaller version of the planes you just bought. Because if they dump the 319s and 190s the...

2014 Hiring
Hello
Have the results of the first bidding for bases come out yet? Anyone have any ideas on what the hiring plan for 2014 looks like or when updates will be available? Thanks.

You know there's no such thing as a "frozen ATPL" in Canada right? So it seems unlikely that WestJet would care that much vs someone who has just the IATRA, although I certainly have no direct knowledge of this.

Days off are legally required. Days off at home scheduled in advance are not. well thats were they can play with the rules. If you haven't flown in 5 days, and TC does an audit, well they can claim you were ''OFF'' during those five days to be legal dutywise. All depends on the operation, company a...
