Re: question on civilian buying aircrafts

Someone else said it ... look at getting an L-39 :

Doesn't cost millions at all, at least to purchase ... and you'll have all the fun of a fighter jet ...

"If it don't look good, GO-AROUND. Imagine if the 340 pilot for some reason hit the brakes instead of the gas while the 767 was in the flare? Who knows, everyone lived to tell and learn about it. Makes for a good video though." That's the way I look at it ... The media is making a mountain out of a ...

If you think that dealing with your unhappy membership is a distraction and waste of time, well that tells you everything you need to know about their attitudes, and none of it is good.

Speaking of COPA lobbying, or lack thereof, and the comparison to AOPA ... One thing I'm starting to notice is also that AOPA usually doesn't fight alone ... there's other similarly minded organisation that cooperate with them when appropriate, like NBAA or GAMA or others I'm not thinking of right n...

Like I said, when you control the app, you control the end point, and you can control accuracy regarding the data display. You specifically said NOT like Foreflight. FltPlan Go is more like Foreflight than not ... it's a service with an app, and the publishers control the product end-to-end. Giving ...

Fuel Tax: Not going to happen, focus on where you have a chance of achieving something! Details: Nothing in law requires said fuel tax to be spent on anything in particular. There are other fuels taxed in a similar fashion, and it would be "unfair" to NOT tax aviation fuel, but tax all the others. E...

Re: COPA Reform

Agreed with the above re: lobbying. They should be doing 2 things: lobbying, and promotion. In many ways those two come hand in hand anyways. Talk to MPs and MPPs, TC, NavCanada, etc. Promote the role Ga plays in the country/province/etc. In my 6 years in COPA, I've NEVER heard a word of anything of...

Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

Wouldn't have helped, the people AT the AGM are a small minority of voters, with most voters represented by default proxy, I believe? The whole concept of proxies going to someone "by default" is kind of bizarre and rather anti-democratic. That's like saying Harper decides my vote if I abstain from ...

The shop in Lachute:

There's also a couple of AME's and a paint shop.

Here's one of them:

"Nobody is forcing them to pay anything... it's just that will be what is required for a release." That was the point of my post. Re: Owner qualified?

So the short answer (in spirit, not in letter) is no, propeller work (of any kind) is NOT elementary maintenance. An owner should NOT remove it, or re-install it, or anything like that. Now technically, as others have said, until the plane flies, it doesn't really matter. By the time it flies, someo...

Since I would run W100 + CamGuard otherwise, this is an interesting comment. So 2F builds more carbon than the altern...

Re: Canadian Electronic Charts and Airport information

re: DRM I don't imagine NavCanada would take this on on their own. For such a system to work, you'd need multiple chart/data producers to play ball, so you know the FAA, the Europeans, etc. Users would be rightfully pissed if there was fragmentation in that space, with every supplier having differen...

I don't see anything all that strange in that article ... The US General is not wrong within the US context ... they have interceptors and superiority fighters to cover for other types of aircraft with other missions. But many other countries do not. So a single multi-role aircraft will have to do. ...

The US data is free because it comes from government, and they have "free data" laws over there that makes it so. Here NavCanada is a corporation, and is free to charge for their products as they see fit. I don't think it's unfair for them to charge for their work ... I find it a little more strange...
