Re: Jobless during the shortage! Work permit holders lets gather here

I rarely reply to posts, but I felt I needed to say something. I’m an immigrant myself, came to this country about 25 years ago as a young, qualified technician. I have lived and somehow survived several downturns...Sept 11, the financial meltdown in 2009, couple layoffs and a bankruptcy. Worked all...

Re: AME pay scales on the rise !

60-90USD, which is more than some in Canada max pay numerically in CAD$. I make much more working 1/10th of what that job would entail. It's depressing when that is called 'high pay' in the ad. The fact that someone will bite infuriates me. I made more than that on one astar in the arctic 20 f’n ye...

Re: Where in CARs does it address ATO instructor requirements? Is an AME mandatory?

An AME license is definitely not required for the position of an instructor at the ATO. Who is the clown who came up with that ? You should see the ignorance of the clowns who write these requirements....specifically at the large organizations, there plenty of copy and paste. Please post the company...

Re: Transport Minister Marc Garneu

I never gave him a chance... He can't be too bright, he's a Liberal. Haha The conservatives under Mr Harper were much better in pretty much every aspect. The only thing I hated with the cons, was Mr Harper's foreign policy which was a disaster in my opinion. But the liberals today are not that much...

Re: Canadian Govt to bail out Bombardier.

Aircraft manufacturers are subsidized all around the world, either through loans/grants or sweet deals at the sale end. Sadly , we need to maintain a level playing field in order to be competitive through assistance BUT NOT 1 penny more This is nothing to do with subsidization. This is bailing out ...

Re: Synthetic vision landings approved

Just before the new rules, approved operators ( and it's a pain to get approval) using of course aircraft with approved EFVS ( which is an IR sensor displayed on a Head-up guidance), can go to 100 ft above field elevation on any approach that has vertical guidance ( ILS, Rnav with LPV or Rnav with V...

Re: Synthetic vision landings approved

Lower landing minima will never be approved for EVS. That's Enhanced Vision System. Lower minima may be approved for EFVS, Enhanced Flight Vision System. The latter will be superimposed on Heads Up Guidance and have cryogenically cooled IR cameras, a much more expensive and complicated approval pro...

Re: Crash at Iles-de-la-Madeleine

From what I was told the pilot had his ifr since 3 years, but he didn't any commercial experience and he wasn't flying ifr very often. It seems he took the instructor with him that day to assist him with the wx conditions. Why would go down over water and try a 'visual approach'. It seems like a ve...

Re: ADS-B Coverage? Moving map weather for ipad

I think the KXP 2290 XPDR was not ADS-B out capable back in Dec 2010 (Just didn't have a DF17 out capability ) doesn't matter what DO260 version we're dealing with.... the above crossing took place around that time, correct. Did the airplane have an UAT ? hard to say, I am not familiar with avionic ...

is it that hard to choose an airplane.......just like the red arrows, use the Hawk for god sake, and get over with it. Now, they'll spend millions doing bullshit studies to figure out what airplane they need.

Re: Bombardier Challenger AFCS Issues in Turbulence

First off, CL601 and CL604 AFCS are different, different hardware, different vendor. The cards that run the AFCS in the CL604/605 are supposed to remove any servo commands ( transparent to the user) when the craft experiences Pitch/roll rates that are above certain thresholds. However, it will not d...

You've probably noticed that the pictures shown above are of C-FNVT. These pics are very recent (30 days old aprox) and NVT is undergoing heavy maintenance as we speak. I can't confirm if NVT is a sister ship to the one that crashed but probably is. The PBA or the the push button annunciator show on...
