The diesel is 40,000 euros plus install. there is only one place in Canada to get it installed and that is in BC.

What is worth doing to a C172 these days?

Just looking at resale value here. It's '79 with the H2AD engine. Would the Centurion engine be worth it? Or is the Penn Yan conversion better? It has a old clunker of a Nav/Com so is a 430 or a good used KX155 plus say a 155xl a better option. Does a slaved compass system raise the value any? Say a...

Re: Gasline Antifreeze in Auto Gas?

Read the Cessna POH. It gives direction on anti-icing additives. Several products are named. Yes they are allowed. I've had 2 cases where aircraft were fuelled with blue 100LL in the summer when the fuel was warm. They got operated in the winter. I sampled the fuel under the wing and at the filter w...

Re: Unbelievable, double electrical failure...

I had a factory new airplane that pegged the amp meter when I tested the standby alternator but only when the autopilot was also on and in a certain mode (can’t remember which one). It also kicked the autopilot off. The factory said it was impossible. They said there might be 2 problems but they cou...

Does anyone know if you have to tell the CTA about changes to an air taxi operation Other than a change in ownership or stock sales? For example if the lease agreement that I submitted to them changes at renewal do I resubmit it or if I lease another aircraft do I need to send them the lease agreeme...

Re: AME "E" Class Avionics Career Advice

I aced flight school, nailed the M course and passed the E course. E was the most challenging. I now use all 3 licences. you will make more money in industrial instrumentation but if you think working on aircraft will get you laid more often then go for it. I’ve always said this is a passion industr...

Re: maintenance signoff; when

If there is a calendar limited item it has to be tracked from the time it was inspected regardless of the date beside the signature. If the amo started your annual inspection by completing calendar items then the date the next annual is due is according to the calendar. wood components is one exampl...

Re: maintenance signoff; when

Ask a lawyer. The only legal date to put on a signature is the date that it is, regardless of when the work was done. The date is legally part of the signature, and has to be the date of signing. I sort of thought everyone knew that.

That cylendar sounds real good to me. The crack is no big deal I expect. Remember, If things are beyond limits they wont be in the log. Deffinently have a prepurchase inspection done for all the reasons mentioned. Get a cylendar pulled and have the cam looked at for corrosion especially if it sat fo...

I think if you look deeper into my posts, and hence my opinion, you'll find I've made it quite clear that, for the most part, I don't believe new regs are required. It is the failure to regulate consistently that is a far greater issue ...[/quote] I think the real issue and the only issue is transpo...

I've been making partial signouts on a couple of float planes for 6 years now. I list the sections of the inspections carried out and release it for return to service. I always track the next due time from the time I started the inspection so no items can ever go over 100 hours. I try to do AD's exa...

Lots of companies lay off the high wage earners and keep the trainees.

If there's a high time float guy just laid off I might be able to but you on to a good opertunity.

Re: Another "brother" doin' us proud..

Quite a few years ago the flight school advertised for Joe public to come by and go for a flight with a private licensed pilot working on their commercial. I took up many people including 2 transport employees. They were unlicensed office workers that just wanted to see what it was like to fly. We a...
