Re: Which AME course to do
Well apparently I'm a troll but hear me out as I think I've got time in doing stuff. If you're thinking about it, think about this; go to any airport in Canada and look at the maintenance facilities. Realize that the big buildings are not full and maybe empty, the small operators are downsizing and...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
I've been in the business since 1996. Licensed M1 since 2000, M2 since 2005. Started in my first job at $8.25 / hour, now making $70K / year. This industry has been good to me. Sure it hasn't always been fun. I've had to work graveyard shift. Sometimes the job is stressful. I had to put in time wor...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
BRV--my point is that AME's have to stop accepting what these companies are dishing out. As a contractor and after my third fall season in a row wondering if I have a job over the winter(not to mention losing sleep over it) I said "screw this, there has got to be something more stable out there". S...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
So who's fault is it that the AME is accepting that kind of wage and benefits? Definitely not AC's. To have people criticizing companies for poor wages when you have been stuck at one place accepting only a dollar raise over 10 years and to loose a week of vacation is hogwash. I think you have to s...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
[quote="Schimunga"]And one other thing I would like to ask...In my ten years of being an AME I have found that fixed wing AME's bitch and complain alot more then rotary AME's. Is that true? BRV--you don't need to respond because I know 10 years experience means nothing to you. You have said so yours...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
In ten years down the road, when there are a glut of plumbers looking for work and a shortage of AMEs', you'll be having the same discussion with an AME while fixing his water tank. You'll be making $30/hr and the AME will be making $50/hr. There will no shortage, there is no shortage of experience...

i have to say that challenger dan kind of nailed it. fixing the aircraft is the easy part. it {the a/c} never say's a word to you,it just needs to be fixed ,that's what i enjoyed. that was always the fun and easy part. the politics and bullshit is what i detested {in so many words}. a newbie needs t...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
$24 is bottom of the payscale for an ACA AME at Jazz. Jazz's contract recognizes relevant field experience so if the 757 guys came over with any amount of experience, which I would imagine they did having 757 ACAs, then they would be getting a much better rate than 24. I know guys who came to Jazz ...

Hey everyone, I am looking for more information on a/c maintenance in the above mentioned area. Re: What do you expect in terms of wages/celery
In order to increase our wages we need to make earning a license more difficult. simple supply and demand. we need to join together through associations...or any other way, and simply limit the number of licenses issued annualy...by increasing the difficulty of earning a license...we will all see m...

No they would not pay 50 hr because some shmuck will do it for 30 hr because of his/her "love for aviation", and there lies the biggest problem in this industry, and as long as people say that and do that it will never change, its unfortunate but in this buisness it hurts you to love your job. +1 brv
