Re: [FSS] How many hours in a single work shift?
Most FSS work the entire shift in the cab, 8+ hours; at some busier sites they will have 2 people on day shifts and rotate, otherwise they are there all shift.

Re: Edmonton FIR FSS remote locations
Rankin is staffed out of Winnipeg FIR so you don't have to worry about them. The North is what you make of it; go with a good attitude, get involved in the community and it can be a blast.

Re: Wardair
55+, I worked with Doug as well, sat right next to him for a number of years which was pretty cool as he trained my Dad to fly DC-10's. Doug had lots of great stories about his days with Wardair and had that picture of him and crew as his desk top background. Flying coach with Wardair was as good as...

Re: changes to ATC pension plan for new hires
Inverted, if you work for NAV CANADA ask for the pension presentation, or if one is in your area go see it. After seeing a 3 hour presentation I can say there is no way a company can maintain the defined benefit pension plan without significantly increases what it charges it's customers. If you are ...

Re: Motion Sickness Curable!! ??
I've used bands that go on your wrist with a little ball that puts pressure in a certain location there. It may be a bunch of hooey but it worked for me and my wife for many days floating around Vancouver Island. P.S. If you think you are going to puke check for sickness bags early in the trip, you ...

Re: FSS and mandatory frequency = just dangerous
FSS will not hear you on 121.5, just pilots that happen to have it tuned it. FYI you just admitted to breaking CARs on an public forum. My question to pilots that fly in and out of there would be: Would you rather nothing? FSS on site? Or same service? Get that answer and maybe you have something fo...

It's definitely not a float friendly area for transient pilots but it is certainly a beautiful part of the country if you ever get to fly there.

Re: The Martin Mars is coming to nothern Alberta
I agree, who gives a crap for the term given to it, in the end it is a sweet flying machine. And Cat, fire needs 4 things: fuel, temperature, oxygen and a chemical chain reaction. They replaced the fire triangle with the fire tetrahedron years ago. See you can teach an old dog new tricks, haha. http...

Re: F-35 looking more like white elephant
If this thing goes to $150M like it appears to be I hope the conservatives consider this as a replacement. Maybe there is not the economic stimulus like the F-35 deal but she's a a beaut and can hold more weapons than we normally fire in a year....normally. http://dhartionline.com/blog/wp-content/up...

I'm pretty sure they offer you a px on a course and if you don't take it they phone the next guy that will. If you really want a job with them nothing should stop you.
