Re: Wasaya

From quickly comparing salaries and conditions in NW Ontario they seem to be one of the better paying outfits with their salary+air time rate. Looks like a 1900 skipper starts at $64,287.44 + $27.90 / air time hour flown (ave. airtime 700 per ann.) so approx $83800 a year to start. I'd be prepared f...

Re: ILS question

Flying an ILS can violate minimums on a LOC approach. ILS 12 in CYHM and ILS 07 in CYOW (since they were mentioned earlier by somebody) both have glideslope FAF crossing altitudes on the ILS that are below the LOC approach altitude at the FAF. If you're flying the GS when cleared the LOC you're belo...

Re: ILS question

The circling minima are based off of the LOC approaches so you’d have to fly the LOC approach to the circling minima not the ILS approach to circling minima. That’s how I read it at least.

Re: ILS question

No, I don't think you can. As of April this year the circling approaches remaining are based off of LOC not ILS approaches (and in the absence of a LOC then VOR and then NDB). Often LOC approaches fly a different profile than ILS approaches, a different FAF crossing altitude for example. Maybe a con...

Re: Air Canada Pay

This needs to change if we want to be a "profession." We won't ever be professionals as long as high time individuals with experience are treated the same as those meeting the minimum requirements. Is there another "professional" group that does that? Seniority should mean something for scheduling ...

Re: IFR Alternate

Non-precision approach, so 800-2 or 300-1 applies. This approach would require at least 800 2 1/4 and the sliding scale wouldn't apply as it doesn't meet standard alternate minima, 800-2, in this case.

Or am I missing something...

Re: Air Canada Pay

Here’s the Air Canada agreement so you can look for yourself, it's section 12.03 I believe. http://negotech.labour.gc.ca/eng/agreem ... pdf#page52

It’s not 4 years of 55k. Currently year 4 FO is 83.80/hr. Not defending it, just clarifying it.

Re: Seneca acceptance average?

I thought they no longer offer multi ifr? They don’t, so take two weeks near the end of the program and complete the multi+ifr at a local flying club. You’ll pay out of pocket but in the long run save time and money not being in college another two years and earning a shitty salary sooner. You must...

For Dave P - a request for a little latitude with thread drift.... I and several other contractors do simulator instruction and examining for other airlines on the 737 and 777. All these airlines have the bulk of their instruction and about half of their PPCs done by outside contractors who are hig...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

Deal will eventually close.

It’s an election year, the Liberals need to make it look like they’re protecting the middle class Canadian by allowing “extra” time to give this deal their due diligence before reporting their unsurprising recommendations and approval.

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

If we’re gonna see another serious offer I’d expect it to be made public by early next week at the latest to give shareholders time to review it before the 23rd. Gosh I love some speculation... Onex has a plan to get a big return on WestJet. Do they slice and dice? I don’t think so and also there’s ...

Re: DOH merge.

If you're part of that 19.5%, yeah it's a great place to be. If I were a holder I'd be trying to dump at $14 and be rid of this toxic equity. But for 80.5% of shareholders this deal has way too much uncertainty and it's not the best offer for the majority.

Re: DOH merge.

Only 19.5% of overall shareholders get the $14 if the outcome of the vote on the 23rd is a no. Everyone else not part of that 19.5%, whether they tried to be or not, is left with whatever the market deems a TRZ share to be worth. It won’t be anywhere near $13-14.

Re: DOH merge.

That value of $14 was established in their original offer, now off the table, to purchase all outstanding shares and take the company private. What guarantee have they provided that once they’ve acquired at least 19.5% at $14 that they will buy out the balance of the shares that they’ve been given v...

Re: DOH merge.

It's the smart move for any Transat investor who wants to get paid. This deal seems off. Mach said they want to secure "at least" 6.9 million shares. If the AC deal is voted down, won't the share price drop back to pre-merger discussion prices? Mach is then holding "at least" 6.9 million shares the...
