Re: Canjet going under (again)?
...Unfortunately this is the direction capitalism has been taking over the last decade or more, and there is no end in sight. The only things that will save us are either a change society looking more long-term as opposed to short-term, or perhaps the raising of standard of living and costs in risi...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
I'm going to chastise my friend for this. What was an amusing pass time on a 10hr flight has turned into something completely different. This will be it for me. But I'll leave you with this. I address this to those of you who believe lower wages mean better chances of protecting your job and theref...

Re: Air Transat sets stage for important announcements
Bbgd, I am sure You are kidding. If an B737 operator can only pay 85000$ for 737 capt. ,than that operator should not be in the bussiness of operating 737's but King Airs. I'm am positive that a 737 Captaincy is paid more ,even in Canada. Flying airliners is a career not a hobby. $85,000 is the sta...

Re: Sky Regional Pilot Contract
Bedecked et al, While experience is a value to any company, I would have a great deal to say if someone dropped in above my hard earned position just because he or she was older and had more time in the logbook. End of story...period... So if somebody is hired with a lot more experience than you, w...

Re: Breaking News: Air Transat Pays PILOT to fight competiti
Tailgunner, if everybody had the same (bad) attitude as you, then AC pilots would be the first to be blocked from other airlines. You do realize that AC management has done more harm to the industry than any other airline in recent history? (Perhaps Jetsgo comes close). Perhaps you should also ask a...

Re: Sunwing/Canjet fleet and foreign pilots winter 2012-2013
The idea that Gilles is being compensated by Air Transat, or perhaps being given office days to fight this battle is intriguing. Frankly, I have nothing against that, except that I hope this was Gilles' initiative which perhaps Air Transat is supporting. Any word on whether the work permits have bee...

Sunwing Summer 2013 program
According to the press release today, Sunwing will only sell Montreal-Paris on Corsair A330's and Toronto-Amsterdam on Arkefly 767's. The rest of the summer program which they have worked towards over the last two years is not included. This means they will not be making use of Euro Atlantic Airways...

Exactly. This is a company that is begging for a union, or they are too stupid to realize that being this cheap will cost them in the long-run. A new low indeed.AutoPilot Off wrote:http://www.alpa.org

Same as Canjet and Sunwing captain pay. More than Sky Regional Embraer pay by quite a bit. Sad but true.FL020 wrote:Captains are happy with 85k a year??? You're kidding me right?...

Re: Anyone fancy a Virgin?
Well there's our answer. According to the article, "Ben Smith, Air Canada’s chief commercial officer, spearheaded planning earlier this year for the joint venture, which had the code-name VP – short for Virgin Pacific. Montreal-based Air Canada would have owned a 40-per-cent stake, Virgin Group 40 p...

Re: Anyone fancy a Virgin?
That article was written before AC got their FOS chosen by the arbitrator. They got the pay rates and rules they wanted for the LCC. I didn't see any mention of any 737-800's and the reference to Virgin was thrown in by the author of the article not by any AC officials. Everything else you are thro...

Re: Anyone fancy a Virgin?
Could this have something to do with Aero Bee (i.e. Russ Payson and Calin Rovinescu) and Air Canada's intent on partnering up with another company to operate a LCC out of YVR using 737-800's and 777's? Is this why Sky Regional is training pilots on the 737 despite not having any work for them suppo...

Re: Anyone fancy a Virgin?
Vancouver base, 737's, and later 777's all fit with intial reports about AC's LCC. It's been mentioned before how it takes forever to get an AOC from Transport. Has Virgin started the process? I think you got it Chopsticks. Sky Regional is the new Jazz so they can shed the good salaries going to 10...

Re: Temporary Seasonal pilots. The big lie at Sunwing
Tailgunner You want to talk about Union Busting, it's called "LCC". I hope for your sake they're all going to be ACPA members. Nevermind the LCC. That's an issue, but what about ACPA allowing AC to start Sky Regional? That in itself is a huge issue that is screwing everybody in the industry. Using ...

Re: Temporary Seasonal pilots. The big lie at Sunwing
Gilles, you have earned my respect. I will defer to your knowledge of the workings of the SW pilot group. Question though. How will these 20 non-union Sunwing Pilots/ busters be identified. Will they carry SW badges and RAICs? It will be a cold day in .... Before they ride with me. Just saying. Tai...

Re: Not a separate company, just another brand??????
Well, in the article it states that the LCC will have a separate management team. I think that's great, because if there's anything Air Canada needs to do in order to cut costs is to add more layers of management!

Re: Sunwing: Colin Hunter gives another interview in Quebec
I'm curious what the general opinion is within Sunwing regarding the 20 Canadian non-union contract pilots that were hired. Is this just a temporary tactic due to the contract negotiations? Perhaps these 20 positions will in time be thrown into the mix via a LOU with the union. Also, from the articl...

Re: Article: Sunwing wants to avoid Air Canada's errors
it should be an interesting year for Sunwing. Not only because of the contract negotiations, but also because Sunwing just hired 20 Canadian contract pilots completely separate from the union. It will be interesting to see how well both sides work together to come up with a reasonable contract benef...

Transat 787's?
In the following article from March 1, 2012, Allen Graham, President of Transat Canada says the following Currently, the fleet is made up of 23 aircraft; 11 Airbus A310s and 12 Airbus A330s. We are going to gradually replace the Airbus 310s with A330s and Boeing 787s. With regards to the medium-haul...

I'm also curious about the lifestyle associated with working for Sander. Where are they doing their work these days? How long are their rotations? Etc. It could be a fantastic opportunity, but it could also be miserable if not managed properly.

Sander Geophysics?
What's the deal with Sander Geophysics these days? They are looking for pilots again. I am at a good company right now, but would be interested in a different schedule and better pay, plus the experience this might provide. Any info would be appreciated.
