Re: Video - hand prop close call
And if memory serves me, I recall the IO-520 with a newer style starter adapter also prohibiting turning the engine in reverse because of the spring on the starter drive catching and causing damage or even itself breaking.

I timed out Sept 2014. Called in a few times to be told that no courses were planned for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Re: Expired Applications
Happened to me and two other people I know, all in Vancouver. We're going through the second time now Vancouver is probably the least short staffed and most in demand posting for a transfer so not surprising that the pool is more "stagnant" Figured as much. Made me wonder, though, why they pushed u...

Re: Blue Booklet ETA?
Hang tight, it'll come. Times vary. When I was first issued the booklet, it took 7 weeks to arrive. When I renewed it last year, it was at my door within 5 business days of dropping off my paperwork at the office. I didn't even pay for expedited processing! I did shell out a couple dollars for a tem...

This is the NOTAM, I pulled it off https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov/PilotWeb/ Apparently the A87 airway was in the flight's flight plan. But: 1. The flight never reached it; and 2. The last known altitude was FL330 - above the FL320 closure. V6158/14 NOTAMN Q) URRV/QARLC/IV/NBO/E/000/530/4818N04023E095 ...

How's everyone faring in the process now?
I'm still waiting for a training offer. I jump whenever I see an unfamiliar area code on my phone only to be disappointed that I won a cruise to the Caribbean.

Re: YYZ October 30th Assessment
I don't think there really is a "usual time" between phases. Some people have had to wait only a few weeks between the assessment and the telephone interview; others have had to wait months. I have been told that, sometimes, people are advanced to the next phase if their candidacy (18 months) is abo...

Re: How long between 1st and 2nd interview?
My first interview came almost immediately after passing the assessment session.
The call for the second interview came about two months later.
I suspect it varies based on what FIR you're in, who's in the pool, and the anticipated need for courses to be filled.

Shame. I was under the impression that there is the possibility of "upgrading" from FSS to VFR or VFR to IFR -- or even backwards. Are you going to be reapplying to try to get another stream?

Yes, will be there! I applied January 20th, which was only a couple weeks after the last assessment. Been a bit of a wait, but it was entirely expected. Good luck! Is there an AM and PM test? I only know about the test in the morning... Morning for me too, perhaps there's only one? Ah, I can't comp...
