Well, depends if we include the classroom numbers. I'd say the % that pass classroom, training, over 90% checkout once in the field. But yeah 70-80% make it pass the classroom training, in my experience.

These are by no means, hard numbers, but just what I've heard over the years.

I'd say around 60-70% of VFR Controllers check out, and the check out rate for IFR Controllers is around 20-30%. FSS is around 95%.

Why are you so concerned about hiding your past of being CT'd? Nav won't care. Just be honest, and use good examples from your training in your interview. I know plenty of people who were CT'd in IFR stream and years later made it in FSS or VFR. Just be honest.

FSS get medical's too, just without the EKG.

I think it's pretty safe to say the staffing is right where they want it right now. I was FSS, failed to cross train successfully into ATC, and was let go in December. They told me there were no immediate positions available in FSS at the moment, but that might change in the future. So based on that...

Military runs the training, not NavCanada. It's just in NavCan's building. The accomodations are nice, it's like a hotel. The food isn't bad either, but gets old fast.
