Re: To all the Senior AME.. I need your hepl
Do you have wife and kids? And if so, does your wife work and earn enough to support all of ya? Once you go for the course and become an apprentice, your wage will be around 15 to 20 dollars a hour for at least 3 years. And the most important question....Are you willing to work night shift? <----If ...

Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize
Man, I don't know. I came from the Air Canada world and all I see is the union driving the company to the ground. There are pros and cons having the union. It all depends on what the union is fighting for i guess. My experience is that once the union is in.......good luck getting rid of the people t...

Re: Canadian North Reductions
Those 300 combi are more of a hassle. The time used to convert a 300 combi from full passenger to a 3 pallet config or the other way around..... the mechanics can do 2 to 3 conversions on the 200 combi. Sure get more 300 combi in the future....but expect major delays with the fleet in the morning if...

I am getting trolled. You are pretty darn good at it too. Reading a few of your past posts...I can say that you're pretty negative towards First Air and Canadian North anyways.palebird wrote:Positive thinking will keep it all afloat.

You sound so sure. The oil industry takes a hit almost every 5 years. It is a minor hiccup along the way for 5T. If 5T play their cards right...they'll be back on track again once the oil prices come back up again.palebird wrote:Get used to it. The glory days for 5T are over.

737NG pre-cooler
Question for 737NG mechs. Where is the engine pre-cooler mounted on the NG? Is it mounted in the pylon like the Airbus 319/320/321...where changing it is a simple job where you just gotta take a few upper pylon panels off, loosen 2 clamps and a bonding strap to remove it. OR is it still the same as ...

Re: premier windsor
I heard from the Q/A department that Premier hired a whole bunch of automobile assembler/mechanics to work in the Windsor facility with a few licensed AMEs leading the project. One of our airplanes went to Windsor for heavy check and it came out of heavy with more snags.

Re: New apprentice tool questions
I don't know about SAIT. When I was at BCIT they provided all the basic tools needed for the program. My suggestion is don't even worry about your basic tool kit if SAIT is providing all the tools that you need. Buy your tools 2 months prior to graduation. As for Snap-On tools. A lot of them are way...

Re: Tell me about your first AME M/E interview
In all my interviews that I have been through, only one company asked me technical questions. But usually it's the usual, you'll have HR, production team leader and the Director of Maintenance shooting questions at you. The usual questions are "How would you handle bla bla bla situation?" "If you ha...

Suncor won't even look at a charter operator if their fleet age is over 10 years old.

Re: Avionic "Career Exploration"
What area do you live in? You can simply just walk into a company and just ask them right there. For example: If Avcanada airlines have a base around your place, just simply walk in there. Talk to the front desk lady and explain to her that you have this "Career Exploration" thing that you have to d...

Thanks for the update Trey Kule. My info is very out of date. Things have changed back in China then. I remember back in the days...there wasn't any.
My info also came from a few Chinese friends that just came back from China.

Re: Go Back Home!
It's how the system works in Asia. It has always been like that. You might think it is not right, but so? You can't do jack about it and they don't care anyways. Back in Asia they might even think the system in North America sucks and the pilots are a bunch of idiots for working on the ramp for so m...

Re: Where should I start from?
Fix wing M1 to M2 is not hard. But going from helicopters to fix wing or the other way around....might be a bit weird at first, but you'll get use to it. When choosing your employer, don't go working for those that pay really low. You'll be freaken miserable and will be living on campbell soup. What...

Re: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category 'M' BCIT
AME-M and AME-E are alright. Don't go into structures. Unless you're planning to work in an overhaul shop then go ahead. Mind you there isn't much out there. The industry is usually looking for AME-M and E people. The M people does all the mechanical work and some avionics work. The E people does al...
