Re: Identify This Aircraft

It pays to friends in "high" places. Just love those staggerwings. D17S Pratt&Whitney 985 CF-BKQ Whitehorse, Yukon. Something about the difference in the engine cowling length and shape and the fairing into the fuselage?? Denotes the model letter??

Re: FltPlan.com in Mexico

Maybe look at www.bajabushpilots.com and what they offer for support. I think it costs $39. Per year. They also offer mex. aircraft insurance, ifr and Vfr charts, airport diagrams etc.
Some good stories in the forums as well.

Re: Small Town Airport

Thanks again for the ideas. We have had 2 meetings so far and things are progressing. The GPS approach is in the works and should be completed by the fall. We are actively looking for funding for our runway extension. The fill and grade are already there....we just need about a 2 ft. top and then th...

Re: Boat Questions

Lots of people don't like Bayliners because they are the GM's of the boat world. Bayliner is one of the largest manufacturers of powerboats in the world. "Generally" speaking they are kinda like the plain jane Chevy. Not many frills or options but there is a whole lot of them out there. Their price ...

Re: Harrier Flypast

Somewhere there is a very good TV interview with the training officer that was responsible for introducing the Harrier to new NATO pilots. As the Harrier was a single place aircraft (originally) don't know if that changed? The pilots were from various NATO countries and there were, of course, variou...

Re: Autogyro scene in Canada

Gyrocopters seem to be quite rare in Western Canada but we had one visit us in Cache Creek (CAZ5) a couple of years ago. It was travelling with 2 ultralights. I kinda think it is based either out of Kamloops (Knutsford Air Park) or Salmon Arm. It was a high-end unit with an enclosed cockpit with win...

Re: Moncton Flight College has gone into receivership

Since 1929? Man oh man....as a Chinese friend of mine is very fond of saying "busmess is busmess" Isn't New Brunswick where our firearms registration centre is located? They are gobbling up "millions of dollars" per year. Perhaps they could cut loose a few bucks to put the school back on track?

Re: Freelance instruction hookup website?

Sorry, I worded my questions awkardly. I realize freelance instructors cannot use their own aircraft. I was referring to the freelance instructor travelling with his own aircraft to an airport somewhere where the student has his airplane parked. i.e. if the freelance instructor had a Navajo and was ...

Re: Freelance instruction hookup website?

Assumably most of the instructors involved in this venture would own and operate their own aircraft. Would you want to publish a "I come to you....You come to me" kind of price structure for a clear picture of costs? e.g. "our guy" flys a super cub...not a big deal to pay him $75. each way to come o...

Re: Cessna 182 running out of UP trim on final

Yep, we got a 1962 182 and I have run out of trim on landing (on occasion) by myself mid or less fuel. I never really thought too much about it. It would seem to me if I increased my speed just a little bit (+5 kts.) It was fine. I will ask our mechanic. He flys the plane as much as I do. Interesting?

A few years back a pal phones me to see if I want to up to the cabin for some bird shooting and some beers. I grab an overnight bag and throw a handful or two of 12 gauge re-loads into the bag. Great evening with fun for all. 6 months later my wife and myself along with 2 other couples are in the se...

Comon guys, take the racks off, the wheels and tires off, the handlebars off, the footpegs off, and even the plastic fender pieces (they are the largest). Stuff the remainder in the aircraft and stuff all the parts around it. Call the dealer or talk to the mechanic in the shop that had to bolt the t...

I don't know about a 150 specifically but I had a very similar experience with our 182 with the 470. I suspected leaning and I was right!! The induction tube in front of the 470 has those two rubber (?) rad hose looking pieces on each side of the engine. It was very cold out like your -20 and the en...

Re: T-hangar plans

A hanger you say.....I leased a lot at our local airport (85 ft. X 90 ft. approx.) and am thinking of building a hanger. Not a T-Hanger but a nice regular kind of box. Everyone else at our little airport has built a stick-framed wood trussed metal clad hanger. The largest span any of them are is 45 ...
