Re: Negotiations

Honestly though, where the hell is the union?! Over a month since the last communication that negotiations have resumed. How about a status update to the membership you’ve been elected to represent. Maybe there is a good reason for that. lol there better be.. how much longer do we accept a MEC that...

Re: Jazz Payscale Updated 2019

Do you consider paying for a benefit as a deduction? Or, do you consider the company portion of any benefit sharing as income? What about pension contribution, do you include that in your income total? If there wasn't a benefits package available through employment, what would you be paying for the ...

Re: System Seniority: I don't know what that means.

System seniority as opposed to other lists such as Base, type, status, training pilot, etc. The System seniority is the master list from which all other lists are derived.

Re: Could/Would ACPA represent WJA pilots?

Dismissed? Nobody was dismissed, they left. Out of the pan, into the fire so to speak. Some pilots probably benefitted from the move but ultimately those pilots who remained after the goldrush was over, could have done so much better. With a cohesive bargaining unit that represented the integrity ou...

Re: Could/Would ACPA represent WJA pilots?

Yes JS, you are right, you do need help. Pleading to find someone else to do your heavy lifting as a bargaining unit is weak soup. Look within your own ranks to find those with the character, determination and stamina to lead the WJ pilots.

Good luck.

Re: College of Professional Pilots

"I think part of the issue, airline pilot unions try masquerade as a 'professional association', but are in reality just another trade union." <<Just>> another trade union? Or just another bunch of misdirected workers seeking someone to take the blame. Call it what you wish, but a workforce such as ...

Re: ACPA MEC

Why does it seem like every Air Canada pilot is afraid of ALPA? Take a look at the airlines in Canada that are represented by ALPA. Do you see how the pilots are being treated better than you? Even CargoJet pilots are finally able to breathe now that they have a union that is advocating for the pil...

The original article is unfortunately vague and misleading with regards to the roles and responsibilities of an airline pilot.

Re: CRJ200 to YXC

Also, AirBC - Bae146

This airport has been well served over the years by jet powered aircraft. Taking the CRJ-200 is not going to prove very effective into YXC due to load and performance restrictions.

Re: ACPA MEC

I just wanted to add my vote for no union is perfect. But when it comes to Canadian unions i really like ACPA and what they have done to keep! Air Canada the top Canadian passanger airline to work for. For example there is no B scale pay at Air Canada. Once upgraded you make twice what a Jazz/Encor...

Re: Air Canada / Westjet cut service to sun destinations and additional quarantine measures announced

I believe there is general support amongst the population for such measures , other countries have enacted similar, perhaps more stringent. The health/ medical communities certainly are supportive, even some Provincial Premiers. Tis unfortunate as more layoffs will happen in the aviation and that s...

Re: Has anyone got the call??

No. I mean tell them this: "Thank you for wasting my time and money." When they call you to come in again.

I guess things have been pretty good for so long that people have forgotten the uncertainty of an aviation career.

Good luck.

Another good thing is the term "Train to standard". Not that we should ever depend on that, but it goes to show you that they are behind you, not against you.
I don't think you will find any reference to "Train to Standard". There is an "Enhanced Pilot Proficiency Program" that...

Good for you guys. You get it. Working more for more money is NOT a raise. Enjoy living your life with your freetime. No one ever lays on a deathbed wishing they had put in more time at the office. Spend time with family and loved ones. Get out see the world. It refreshing to see people who are not...

Not sure why people are so gung-ho to fly a clapped out 757 for $0 more than a Dash 8. Someone with the balls to say it! The saying goes: "Ignorance is bliss", but it appears to be giving some people significant discomfort. The contract that the pilots have at Jazz is of significant benefit...
Mr Hutchings Despite your feelings of entitlement as a business passenger, I am afraid your opinion as to whether an aircraft should depart is of zero concern to ANY Captain at ANY airline. Re: Jazz pilots contract?

Dear Mr. MBA Unfortunately this discussion has taken a regretful turn to misunderstanding and out of context assumptions. Firstly you have interloped on an argument between an pilot and a ramp attendant. There is history here and both parties have issues. Secondly regarding your particular flight, y...
