Re: a320 at Air Canada
Motivation is what you need to get you through the low-points in your upcoming career. Doors will be slammed in your face, jobs will disappear with zero notice, and you'll be presented with umpteen empty promises. Expect all of this. One of the things that I learned from others along the way was to ...

So lets keep all the miserable old "seniors", so we can spend countless hours flying across countries listening to them bitch and moan about something else...drinking FREE Second Cup?
Not cool.

I saw this poll set up in the Walmart greeter's area one day...
Coincidentally, I heard there was a huge blowout sale on tear-away pants, tank tops for men, and leather hats! "Perfect for airline travel" the sign said

Re: Hey there public...welcome to our dirty little secret
An airline operation with the unique challenges of operating out of the Island should pay accordingly. What are the challenges of operating out of the island? Landing a 58000lb aircraft on a 4000' east-west strip in a crosswind during the winter off a 4.8degree ILS....or perhaps doing an RNAV appro...

Coolest move I ever did see was from a 727 fella (I think) that was JS'ing and waited to be the last one off. He poked his head in and told us how much he appreciated the ride, then handed us a Tim's card with two coffee's on it. Absolutely not required, but definetly classy.

Re: YYC closure last night? (Dec 21)
if you call your self "Air Canada" or "canadian" and can't deal with snowy weather there's seriously something wrong with you. Get off your moms computer and get a pilots license, work your way through the industry and get to the point where you are in the beak of an AC/WJ flight and have to make t...

Actually, now you can't FF through the commercials...AND, you can't change the volume during the commercials either!! If you've got noise cancelling headphones for the IFE, be careful when the commercials start! You may not pass your next medical...

Re: Lightning strikes
Check out the yellow spot...there was a pin-hole the size of a freshly sharpened pencil lead, left behind after a strike during our approach into Calgary. Nothing was affected onboard. It sounded like someone pounded their fist against the fuselage...and apparently the FA's saw a flash of light go a...

35 min turns for the EMJ. They tried shorter turn-times, but found it wasn't enough.

Re: Reserve at Air Canada
No. At AC you check in on the computer, then print your flight plan (it's all been planned and filed for you). You can check weather, speak with your dispatcher, print specifics for MEL'd items, read new aircraft specific bulletins (and company wide bulletins), etc. It doesn't take long, but you hav...

Re: Jazz wrapping up groundschools
I think some people are confused with the "equipment bid" which is upcoming. Not the same thing as a "down-bid".
By the way, did you hear that AC is getting 6 new 747-200's!!?? No, for real!!

AC isn't "parking 4 767's" due to loss of business...it's been planned (and crewed accordingly) for a loooong time.

Air Canada = Air Canada ground handlers.
WestJet = Paneuille or Servicair...I really don't know (don't even know if there is a difference). But that's who you would see rolling around there.

Re: Has Jazz hired pilots with no turbine time?
Yeah, you're all right. Turbine time IS a joke. Why should you have to understand a turbine engine inside out just to fly an RJ/Dash/EMJ/320?? I mean, Mixture/Pitch/Power applies to those airplanes SO much more! I can't believe the airlines don't understand this. They outta know that starting a "hot...

Re: GGN
The tails change by the week, and pilots are assigned to pairings...not legs (pairing = a bunch of legs in a day, possibly over the span of a few days) . There isn't a YHZ based GGN pilot that flies 117 hours in a month. Actually, there's one guy that's lucky to do that in a YEAR! (I think his initi...
