It doesn’t matter what you bid, they don’t have to train you in the new position.

220s won’t be ETOPS, they said the airplane is too small for any overseas flying

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

March 11, April 1, and April 22 are the next groundschools. You can expect groundschools every 3 weeks for the time being, possibly every two weeks in the summer with between 30 and 40 new hires each.

Re: A320s

AC has no shortage of pilots, the issue with the wide body position is that pilots don't want to bid them so they'll simply go to new hires. With ground schools of 30 to 40 people running every three weeks and hundreds of resumes on file they have no problems filling the positions, the only differen...

Re: AC pay rates

900 guaranteed for pilots on flat pay (75h a month). Used to be 900 guaranteed for everyone when we had the Cargojet wetlease, I’m not sure of the status of that now. A wild guess would be around 80h a month average depending on the fleet and how productive the flying is, block holder vs reserve etc...

Re: AC pay rates

Nav Pay applies to overseas operations defined as:

Any flight operation that departs and/or arrives outside of Canada, the United
States (excluding Hawaii), Mexico, the Bahamas and the Territorial
Collectivity of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon

Pilots on flat pay don’t receive nav pay.

As silly as it sounds, some companies (outside of Canada) do require to pass a polygraph test, Copa Airlines for example.

Not true, there's at least one showing 320 CA from 787 FO on the last bid...

You can't fly your old type as soon as you start training on the new type.

Re: Flight School Warm Temp Cutoff

At the school that I used to work it was at the instructor's discretion if you wanted to fly past 35 degrees or not(including humidex). We were on salary so most people would stay inside when it got that hot, but you could fly all day and melt your brain if you wanted to.
