Re: CanJet Ready To Go It Alone
My post is in response to the comments in the article that suggests that Canjet's apllications have put in a "strong negotiating position" and that Transat is in a "tough" position. Sometimes those kind of corporate manoeuvres backfire. Hopefully, for the hundreds of employees of Air Transat that wi...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
I work at Air Transat and have for a long time. We operated the Virgin 737s for a couple of winters and Star Airlines 320s for one winter. Those ops had nothing to do with our ability to run a profitable Narrowbody fleet but rather it was to help out a sister company in Europe that had no work for t...

Re: Air Transat layoff next year
Wow!! It always amazes me how things can be understood so differently. When I listen to what the man says, it is clear to me that because Air Transat has 3 A310s on a power by the hour lease and because they are fully crewed, there is the ability to easily adjust capacity as the market fluctuates. In...

Re: Transat to merge with/buy out Company X ???
I can see TS buying Thomas Cook Canada and letting the Jazz contract run its course like they have in the past when they have purchased a tour operator. After all these years,TS has always made it clear that they have absolutely no interest in domestic operations. A Canjet purchase is a more realist...

Re: Canjet losing Transat flying?
Relax Boys! I never said anything about Canjet losing their contract with Transat next year. My posts refer to us at Air Transat operating 737-800s. The process is underway now.The pilot group is presently negotiating and the FA's are next. The word is by the summer of 2011 or at the earliest next w...

Re: Canjet losing Transat flying?
Mr. Eustache denied the model was broken, and said the company was already developing a plan to bounce back next winter. Although he declined to give any details of that plan for strategic reasons, he said Read more: http://www.montrealgazette.com/business/fp/Transat%20strategy%20didn%20work/2672409...

Re: Air Transat Fleet
"The changes coming have a lot more to do Transat Corporate business strategy and positioning themselves and their products in a structure that will be able to compete effectively with their Main competitors now and in the future than ALPA concerns about foreign pilots.Do you really think JME will s...

Re: Air Transat Fleet
Personally ,I do not feel Canjet has been slagged on this thread. I do not like the fact that Canjet is doing "our" work and in particular many flights that we operated in the past. It's not the fault of CJ's employees that the company is doing traditional Air Transat work. If the shoe was on the ot...

Re: Air Transat Fleet
My post has nothing to do with the ALPA article and as a matter of fact I have not even read it yet. It is from information being provided by the company and sources within the company. The changes coming have a lot more to do Transat Corporate business strategy and positioning themselves and their p...

Re: Air Transat Fleet
Canjet has 4 737's contracted to Transat until 2013,the other 10 "Flex" machines can be replaced by Transat at their discretion. We will operate 5 permanent and 5 flex machines that will summer in Europe eventually.Sounds like 2013 could be Canjet's last year doing our work if things go out as planne...

Re: Air Transat Fleet
10 Birds and many unhappy and disappointed passengers. It is called controlling your product that has taken so many years to build up.Anyway, I am sure Canjet will still provide some lift, just not 14 Birds worth.Ultimately, it is the big guys decision and apparently he is not happy with everything.I...

A321 does not have the legs we need. The Canjet contract has a 30 day cancellation clause in it just like the Westjet contract had. The word at Air Transat is Transat AT has recently cancelled 60000 seats with Canjet. The wonderful world of vacation Travel. I have to disagree with your theory of a 3...

Re: Air Transat ?
Word from someone in the know is that the company is considering over the long term to eventually have Canjet or another operator slowly takeover the widebody flying at a much lower crew cost. Like the narrowbody's, when TS doesn't need them, it is the other operators problem to find more work. Tha...
