Re: Corona Virus

So, what is the right course of action then? Are you saying there shouldn't be any measures whatsoever and your shopping experience should be like every other day? The distancing measures have a scientific rationale, and the blanket restrictions have been recommended by experts who are considering t...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

I'm sure since JS left the company the recruitment team has more pressing things to deal with than considering the specific sensibilities of every applicant. Not long ago people sat in the "pool" for years with minimal correspondence... some were hired right away. Just live your life in the meantime.

Re: DOH merge.

We might see an end to the flat pay concept at least for the ones on the property the moment the purchase is completed. No junior AT pilot will loose pay or vacation. The merge list will make them slot in the proper pay table with a top up. AC year 1 is barely higher but then AT year 2, 3 and 4 is ...

Re: DOH merge.

There's always a certain percentage of jerkoffs at every company, AT included. The pilot group at AC is fractured. The top 40% have been through a lot, including an extremely contentious merger and are very wary of a seniority merge. The bottom 60% skew fairly junior due to the massive growth, and s...

Just demonstrates how much Encore values their Human "Resources". What a lack of respect for everyone involved.

Probably somewhere outside of the "Air Canada" sub-forum? Thanks for stopping by though.

Re: Canada faces severe shortage of pilots and aircraft workers - Ottawa Citizen

Just to be clear, I have no problems with circumstances of the past, hey, all the better if the pathway is nicer. Wonder if that era is going to come back. My AC buddies, (viewed as "old" now LOL), tell me the official line is 2000 hours minimum but in reality some are getting on with less than tha...

Hey Ratherbe,

Feel free to air these grievances on the private AC pilot forum - you'll get more constructive debate there.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Are new hires able to get on the 737 without jet time? I think the requirement for previous jet time is still in place - but is there any reason you want the 737 in particular? As a new hire you'll be stuck on reserve for the first year. Lotta 320 guys bidding over to 31R right away, same with the ...

Re: AC New hires please us your WB bid

The reason these WB FO spots are going Junior is lifestyle plain and simple. Junior WB means reserve, no 16 day cap and junior for YEARS. That's why nobody wants it. Nothing to do with pay. Perhaps if it paid more people would take the lifestyle hit for cash but I reiterate, this is a lifestyle iss...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Applied 6 weeks ago. Got the email for video interview. 5000+ hrs, jet, aviation college. Can’t bring myself to work for that wage, so I’m out. We all agree the starting pay is abysmal, but I can count the number of resignations in the last year on one hand... there's a reason people stick it out f...

Well, if you're in high school you have access to the college application guide. Or you can call the registrar's office of whatever school you're interested in. This is all information you can easily find right from the source, not from an anonymous internet forum.

Personal thoughts; If you fit into their version of what a "cool" looking employee looks like, or said differently, if you win the big red popularity contest, that is all that it takes. The psych and medical and sim hoops are only there to present a thorough image, where the obvious issues are scre...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Just thought I'd chime in here with a little info from my experience. A quick note - I believe video interview invitations have gone out to some applicants from October, but that is not reflective of the final number of successful applications. It took about 2 years from the time of my application i...
