Re: Cabin safety question: seatbelt extensions policy

Thanks for the responses.. the photo (yikes).... and thank you CD for the FAA bulletin. Still, just for clarity, did the Flight Attendant violate a rule or not? My view is if it ain't specifically prohibited in the CARs, then, by default, it is permitted. Rules never seem to be Black or White with T...

Cabin safety question: seatbelt extensions policy

Question for CD or any cabin safety regulator. I was recently on a charter flight (737-800 out of Punta Canada...) when a large passenger across from me pulled out a personal seatbelt extension and asked the flight attendant is the flight attendant had any problem if she used it. The FA said "I have...

Shock over Jordanian F16 pilot burned alive by ISIS

Sorry folks, but I need to express my horror, and solidarity, over this atrocious event. Solidarity over a fellow pilot, who died a barbaric way at the hands of a group that what makes World War 3 more and more likely. Never thought we would see a group worst than Nazis... The first time I saw ISIS ...

Re: UAV Pilot

Very exciting actually... Currently most if not all UAVs are within line-of-sight flight, and we are still in the "hobby+" stage, relatively few commercial operators, mostly photo/video stuff or thermal imaging for commercial properties. (check iseeit.ca) . Most UAV operators/pilots (are they really...

Re: External loads...canoes...any photos?

Had a friend who once picked up some hunters and they convinced him, (a low timer at the time), to strap a large portion of a moose that had been cut up to the outside of the floats. He got airborne, but barely, and after just clearing the trees at the far end of the lake he set it back down on the...

Re: Ottawa RIver Departure under the Bridge

I guess, according to the majority who support the under the bridge take-off as safe and legal, that I could take off from Runway 24 in Quebec City and fly right between the turrets of the nearest Church because I am in the process of taking off and I have the hands and feet skills to do so safely (...

Re: Ottawa RIver Departure under the Bridge

Maybe based on the video evidence TC decided that no further actions was required? I doubt that... my take is that TC is simply unable to find anyone to rat on the guy, or it cant identify from the clip. Essentially, it is TC's MH370... it vanished in thin air right across the Prime Minister's brea...

Wow, no matter the good news story here, some dickhead posters still manage to diss Quebec and TC for no reason whatsoever... Is this a natural AvCanada syndrome that you gotta have diarrhea of the mouth and cant just say anything positive? Kudos to the aerobatic family, no matter their background.

Re: TSB Report: Mid-Air Collision Saskatchewan May 2012

I don't usually broadcast much/any on 126.7 or other enroute frequencies...partly through laziness, partly because I just want to enjoy flying, and partly because I doubt the value of transmitting my position to the entire province. I do usually listen out though. It would be nice to have a PCAS, b...

Re: Air Labrador Twin Otter Hard Landing

My argument is based on the premise that a qualified, stamped and PPC'd First Officer at a 705 carrier (it was a 705 at the time of the accident, later reverted to a 704...) should be able and expected to fly any approach in most conditions, under the Captain's supervision. A revenue-flight with pas...

Here it's on the second inverted try in bumpy air . But is it even possible also to determine if this upside-down impact had an associated medical event (ie blackout) ... or not ? Actually I was not suggesting or implying a medical event or blackout per se for this accident, but more into the adver...
