Re: Cargojet fires some AC furloughs
About 20 or so from what I heard, in one conference call that lasted 2 or 3 mins.... My heart goes out to them and their families. The remainder will be gone when they come back from their pairing. Are all of the AC furloughs on probation at CJ? Most were on contract for several months, eventually ...

They're already there. I know a handful of 767 guys/gals that are on LOAs from AC and went to Cargojet.

Most folks get the call within a week of their references getting called. The calls might not necessarily go out to the references for a few months.

Re: Socialized Bidding (Rouge)
As a junior pilot at AC I'm enjoying the socialized bidding at Rouge. My first year at the company and I got Xmas and New Years off. I had a "crappy" rest of my block but I was expecting and prepared for that. So far I've got practically all the days off I needed even during the summer. I'm a commut...

Re: Air Canada Pay
Is 75-80k a year gross do-able for a first year AC FO with max overtime or am I dreaming? If you get on with Rouge and pick up a draft trip only once a month that would be very easy to do. Picking up a LAS turn at first year pay gets you just shy of $800 before tax. The whole OT thing is likely goi...

Interesting...Pat Ward and Emily Rae say they were scheduled to come home to Winnipeg Monday but found out their flight had been cancelled after a truck hit their airplane, damaging a propeller.

Re: Coffee in a Thermos and security
In Canada and in most countries, no problem working/dhing/commuting in uniform. In the UK, it's a problem. Thanks, that's what I figured... Leave it at home for the UK layovers. May I recommend something like this. https://www.sportchek.ca/product/gsi-commuter-javapress-blue-331810657.html?gclsrc=a...

Coffee in a Thermos and security
Getting really sick of the on board coffee and I'm looking at taking my own Thermos to bring my own coffee with me. I have a 1.9L Stanley, so it's a little on the large side and completely metal. Anyone have any problems with security, specifically internationally?

Re: 703 to AC?
I’ll pipe in. I came from 703 flying MEDEVAC to AC. I have an aviation diploma. Flew bush 705 for about 1000hrs. Interviewed Oct. and hired in March. I knew my chances we low but I was happy with where I was and in no particular rush. I feel I have been a bit of an anomaly. Knew friends in the insi...

Re: King Air at Gillam, MB
This got me thinking. If they were going YWG-YYQ, why didn’t they at some point say “Oh @#$!, we’re low on gas.” Divert to YTH which is on the way, get some gas then sheepishly explain their mistake to company.

YWG Commuting
I'm new to the commuting game and curious if anyone past or present had and tips or advice for someone new to commuting. I'll be YYZ based and recently I've been looking at the loads and most look oversold. Obviously the 737 MAX has a bit to do with this? Lets say you have a flight the next day what...
