Re: Duke Elegant:

What to say about a Man like Les. He was a great leader and teacher. I was lucky enough to fly with him in the last years of his life. I learned more that I even realize from Les.

PT6, I am sure that the 200 pilots were just conserned for they heard that a King Air 350 was taxin in front of them. As we all know pilots that fly 350 are all old, cranky ( see this post), and blind. Turning on their lights was away to insure they were not taxied into and that the 350 found the ce...

A true Bush Pilot's wife is one that is willing to move to the north.
I have to say in this case it is about time ! Poor girl has been paying her dues for awhile.
Don't think this will stop my husband from hitting on her every chance he gets though.

I am so glad to hear everyone got out alright. I agree with PT6 every float pilot should take underwater trainning. I am sure it was a long night for you pilotswife, I know it is a situation that I have night-mares about. I am so happy that there was a happy ending. Best wishes to the family.

I have seen him confuse a few barmaids with his request for a golden throat charmer. It always made me smile as it was his warm up act. I sure think of him often, mostly when this business starts getting to me. I remember what a great leader and example he was. I sure do wish I could have had more t...

My condolence go out to his beautiful wife. It is such a sad way to have lost him. I meet Gord in YXL as he lived down the hall from me. I remember how excitied he was to have gotten hired by the Bear. He was always willing to help out a fellow pilot no matter were he was in his career. He will be m...

Good Bye to a friend and role model to many of us. A man of great dignity and hounour has left us, on his timetable and nobody elses. My condolence to his family from my family. We will both miss him, but I am sure he will live on in our lives through the memories of time spent with him.

Les Maike ( the duke) - would have to agree with PT6 on this. One of the best old timers I have had the privilege to fly with. If you did not learn anything flying with him, then there is no help for you. A man of great honor and courage.

I meet the duke while flying the contraption. Though I had heard of him prior, as he does a great impression of me I am told. Throught many contracts he taught me what it takes to be a true leader as well as the type of captin we should all strive to be. On the down time I also learned the f...
