Re: Going on Vacation! Air France YYZ-CDG CDG-TLV
Flew with AF this summer out of CDG to YUL. They were actually great for stanby pax. They have their own dedicated standby counter to ask questions etc. I didn't get a jumpseat ride, but because the flight was full they were willing to have me occupy one of the FA's jumpseats. Luckily however, I got...

Re: 705 Dispatcher
How's a dispatching career for a major carrier like? Im looking for information on working conditions, schedules, training, benefits, pay, etc. Might be making a switch and since I want to stay in the industry, I thought it might be a good idea. I also would like to work for a reputable airline and...

Re: Current Ticket Prices
Fine...Great... The prices are down and it's low season. But either WestJet or Air Canada must have been the catalyst to lower the prices. I couldn't see AC or WJ lowering their fares unless the other one lowered them first. The lower prices are based on reactionary measures. So I guess i was wonder...

Re: Current Ticket Prices
That's the price of the cheapest ticket on all their flights at the time the ad was posted. The purpose is to attract customers, who can't all buy that seat, and fares vary with demand; as more seats are purchased, the price rises. The last seats sold on a full flight can cost ten or more times the...

Current Ticket Prices
I was just looking over some recent fares around Canada and the US and I was absolutely shocked at the seat sales going on at the moment. $38.00 on WJ Toronto - Atlantic City??? AirCanada seems to be going the same route $50.00 Edmonton to Yellowknife...$100.00 Calgary - Toronto... and the list goes...

Re: Island in sights come 2010?
low-cost carriers should not be confused with regional airlines that operate short flights without service, or with full-service airlines offering some reduced fares". Seeing a company actually bringing service back into the Service Sector is if anything, refreshing. Pardon my ignorance but what ki...

Can't stand cell phones ringing on taxi, people who don't have their photo id ready when boarding, and let's not forget those folks who must bring their neck/support pillows for an hour flight.

Re: Most stable companies
Thats a really tough question to answer. Like someone posted earlier, "what's your def of stable?" l think if you're looking for the full package - RRSP's, employee benefits (medical, health etc), and job longevity then l'd be thinking WJ or 7F....but this is only in light of the recent economic dow...

Re: Why am I getting such attitude when I call places??
l can certainly understand why some folks can be a bit rude when aspiring pilots are calling for info on a job, or simply calling for the sake of touching base. lf you think about it, these people are working and may be busy at the time. l know that's no reason to be rude but some people are simply ...

THe Future of SkyService
Just wondering if anyone had something insightful to say about the future of SkyService? With the closure of Conquest (one of Skyservices client), is there any discussion on how the airline plans to handle its fleet, and more importantly its employees? l certainly hope that SkyService does not end u...

Re: Need for Pilots in Canada after recession perhaps?
My assumption is that most of the pilots who have already been laid off will be the first to get in as soon as the economy starts to pick back up. A buddy of mine was laid off but his employer definately told him he would be recieving a call as soon as things were back in order. This could just be s...

Re: WORLD'S BEST AIRLINE NAMED AT ANNUAL AWARDS
Its sad that no north american airline made that list. Sad yes, surpised no. Most North American carriers treat their passengers like cattle. Don't get me wrong the ride is safe and comfortable (most of the time), but in comparison to some of the airliners listed above, few North American airlines ...

PS... Kudos to Porter for jumping on the Canadian built Q-400 (o...

Re: First Air Engine failure on departure YEG
First Air is one of the most profitable airlines in Canada hands down.
l really think that there will be some major changes to the operations in the north. lt'll be interesting to see where the other operators will fare in that competition.
