Re: AC offer AT $13 per share
How is that great for Transat pilots. They will be owned by a real estate company. They care about the hotel properties, not the airline. Pilots will loose out on the sweet heart deal they would have received at AC. Maybe they will get an employee discount on their next use of a real estate agent. ...

Re: DOH merge.
I would not say it is fun to work at Air Canada, as a pilot. It can be fun, at times, but for the most part it is a grind. We work very, very hard and I think this is why many focus on the money. That said, I have my life away from work and wouldn’t really want the 2,3,4-day layovers away from my f...

Re: DOH merge.
I'm not sure how 8 pages later people are still talking DOH. There are many pilots on the AC list that are not DOH.
It will NEVER be DOH.

Re: DOH merge.
Would you rather Onex buy us? Would you rather Onex grab our slots and start injecting real money into the fight? Would that be a better outcome for your career progression? Yes, I hope that happens. How about you? Where would you rather go? Great. Look at that attitude. Here's a tip Takeoff. When ...

Re: DOH merge.
Everyone is nicey nice now. That’s great. Make no mistake this will turn ugly. Like every other merger every other time. The Transat pilots will advocate for themselves only, as they should. And so will AC pilots. It will be decided in arbitration and the Transat pilots will end up the huge winners....

Re: Career change to pilot
It’s funny how the only ones that ever slag it are the ones who’ve never done it.
It’s not perfect but I’ll watch the AP in cruise all day long.
If I had to go back to 703/704 I’d def be looking for another career.

Re: Making it to AC within the next 3-4 years?
Newly hired FO with a 705 carrier. I'm a career changer. Anything can change between now and 4 years but AC is the goal. Yes, crappy pay to start but what the heck, it's AC. Can't beat red. What are forecasted hiring trends looking like? How long do we suspect this wave will last? Age 65 retirement...

Re: Career First Officer at AC by design?
You seriously think this ? LOL. Most are prior NB Skips who can't bare to work another 18 day month for the same amount of cash....up until last year this was a 10-15 year seat. Sure there are a few wankers around, but that goes the same for every type we have.....the same could also be said for ev...

Re: Career First Officer at AC by design?
What's with the gloating? Isn't the 777 FO position known as the 'trouble maker' position? Guys who failed their upgrade, too scared to do it, or just don't fit in anywhere else in the company? You seriously think this ? LOL. Most are prior NB Skips who can't bare to work another 18 day month for t...

Re: Career First Officer at AC by design?
My Year 3 flat pay yielded 113k last year with a little bit of overtime and I made over 80k my first year and 90k my 2nd in the right seat of the EMJ. I have recently "offered" to take a WB FO position with the company and am happy with my decision. I work half as much as I did on the narrow body a...

The fault lies entirely on Transport Canada. Not the newbies taking advantage.

Re: AC New hires please use your WB bid
You guys knew what it was. Everyone has a choice here. Money or schedule. There are lots of choices. Can't handle 15 days at work? Don't like you're schedule? Bid RP and work 9 days a month. Wait until you can hold what you want at the seniority you want. Or bid senior on RSV and pick up some bette...

Re: AC New hires please use your WB bid
I'm kinda tired of people blaming AC pilots for the low starting pay. We tried to stop 4 year flat, B-scale LCC, save the pension... It was voted down by a majority of the membership, and then forced on us by the Ratt and Harper. We all took massive concessions in FOS. Only to have the company turn...

Re: AC New hires please us your WB bid
Regardless of how good or bad the new pension is, there is the immediate challenge of maintaining one's life style and paying the bills upon joining and surviving the flat pay for f..o..u..r l..o..n..g years!!! If Air Canada can't or doesn't want to increase the starting pay but would like to attra...

Re: AC New hires please us your WB bid
Yes. The new pension is hardly a fix. Not even close to parity with the DB. Those who think the issue is dead will be surprised. I do not harbour the resentment of some of my colleagues but I’ve heard “wait till we are the majority” more than once. I believe a storm is coming in time. Unfortunately.
